Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

its cool man, i just think sometimes we have to remember how good we are no but what i mean is riders who have the technical skills on the game to plat the extremes, not once, but with some degree of consistency, like me and you; are in a HUGE minority.

people outside the top 500 cover 99.95% of the Trials Community. that means out of all the riders who could potentially read the guide, a VAST majority have no hope of 0 faulting an extreme track on their technical skill merit alone. the guide is 'how to 0 fault extreme courses' so its not really meant for us who already know how to do it

Here is how the extreme courses rank in difficulty according to mike's system.

This is avg difficulty rating per checkpoint:

    1. Diabolic - 5.21
    2. Goin' Up - 4.77
    3. Inferno II - 4.44
    4. Greatest Hits - 4.00
    5. Groundhog Forever - 4.00
    6. Brown Boxes - 3.92

Greatest Hits takes the tiebreaker since it has more checkpoints than Groundhog Forever.

I know "difficulty" is an opinion, but I think these ratings fall in line with what people generally think.

I never thought to do that. It's pretty interesting seeing that it works out with generally how everyone feels about the courses. I agree with everything except Goin' Up, which is the easiest one for me to 0 fault by far. And I know I'm disagreeing with my own ratings...but that's just a course that I'm personally really good at. (Er, was really good at) I try to rate things for everyone in general.

The box is overrated. It's almost impossible to do a fault on it. I don't remember when I last time did a fault on it... or if I ever did

I agree that sometimes you have to try it a second time (or maybe 3 times if you are really rusty), but all it takes is just a few extra seconds to try again, no matter how many times you have to retry it. I would give it a difficulty rating of 2, since this thread is all about zero faulting the tracks, not about passing them on the first time (and the box is tricky before you learn how to bunny hop).

Wow.. didn't expect to see Goin' Up in the number 2 spot, and personally, I also feel like it's one of the harder courses to fault on as almost every obstacle has a recovery method. Looking through the numbers in the original posts, I wouldn't have ranked several courses the same, but I guess we each have our own riding styles and challenges. I understand that this guide attempts to overcome riding styles, but there are obstacles with viable methods of recovery that are ranked at a 6 or higher, and obstacles without recovery ranked at a 3.

I agree about the box obstacle. I faulted out at 500 faults multiple times when I first started playing that game. Now its so much easier than the rest of the course, I dont understand how I had so much problems with it.

See jook, right there is why it gets the rating that I gave it. Because it IS hard for some people, particularly the ones who are just starting to learn how to 0 fault extreme courses. Which is who this guide is mostly aimed for.

yeah i do agree. Inferno II should be 2nd as you can't recover from about (*thinks hard*)... 5 obstacles if you mess it up.

Well I'm not really sure what you guys want me to do. Should I re-evaluate some of the ratings for Goin' Up and Inferno II? I mean just cause my average ratings comes out in that order doesn't mean for a fact that those courses are harder than another's.
