Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

congrats on completing the guide. i know many people will find this extremely useful, whether they are going for the platinum on midnight club, or are struggling to pass their first extreme track

as ever, here are my suggestions/requests:
    greatest hits:

checkpoint 6: i find it easier to let my back wheel hit the vertical platform tip and power myself off of that

checkpoint 10: you might want to up the difficulty there - its very easy to hook your front wheel onto the top of the 45 degree metal plate, or fall off of it.
a recovery for the first position would be REALLY helpful

checkpoint 11: when in the air, leaning the rider back and forth two or three times seems to help me here, kind of like trying to bunny hop in the air. check my replay to see what i mean.

surprisingly, its a non special platinum run, i believe about 3 seconds below platinum.

lastly, you said you were above the 60k character count. what you may want to do is start an entirely new thread and post a bunch of times in it before anyone else does, so you can add more to the guide if you wish, and seperate the levels out in each post, keep the FAQ's in it, etc

Alright I'll add these things and try to figure out a recovery, etc. Also, I know I can create a new thread and have the first few posts, but right now the only information I would add is stuff that's not too important, so as of right now I'm not going to do that. If I ever get really constrained the I'll probably start a new post.

@Berica - I'll go try it again. Does your back tire go all the way over the second pipe? Or does it hit a little bit underneath it and then accelerate on top and on to the next one? Do you learn forward at all when in the air?

EDIT: Reaper, I believe I have a pretty good recovery for the position you mentioned. Hopefully it isn't too hard for you to do. I don't think it will be though. By the way, with those additions, I'm at exactly 60,000 characters in my post. That new thread may be started soon, or I could ask the mods to delete the second post so that my post will move up to that spot.

I wish I knew. You know how some days, you can't do anything wrong and you end up setting records in a few different tracks, but then the next day you sit down to play, and you can't recapture it? That's where I am now with this obstacle. I swear... that first day, I was sailing over it. Now, here's what seems to happen almost every time:

    - straddle the first pipe
    - lean back and accelerate
    - hit the second pipe pretty hard, end up straddling it
    - lean back and accelerate
    - fly over the rest

For me, this technique is still the best... high success rate, pretty fast to get through it... just not quite as good as I originally said.

thanks for the recovery mike. i'll try it when i'm on next. that obsticle has always been a pain for me because i've worried about going too fast, and ended up not maing it. now i know that if i just bomb it up to it and get my front wheel stuck i should be ok

I can agree with this. This is definitely an option that you can do and this is what I do pretty much every time I try this technique. I've never just flown over them all without a large bunny hop on the first pipe.

I think you should add this to your guide. I started playing around with it, and I have YET TO MISS IT! For me to not miss something on an extreme course, even once, should speak to how simple it is. For me, it has transformed this obstacle from "I hope I get by it without faulting" to "I wonder how fast I can get by it."
That was me.. I do know that some other people have had trouble with it. The thing is, it works every time for me now. It's just another alternative for people to try.

If you could make a video then that would be fantastic.

Wow man awesome guide!! I always know how 'I' do things but have alot of difficulty trying to break it down into words and such detail. You have done it brilliantly.

To me this a game that has a real feel or "knack" to it so it is hard to explain to people how to do certain things. I know when I am chatting to friend trying to teach them how to do a certain obstacle is very difficult and often in the end I end up saying "You just gotta practice it over and over and get a feel for it".

I just Platinumed this one last night. I was really gutted cos I had zero faults up until Groundog Forever. I made 4 on that track alone . 2 at the first obstacle and 2 on the second where you have to launch off that small platform down to the ramp. Then I had the other 2 on Brown Boxes a track which I normally sail through.

I would have to say that Inferno gives me the most grief as far as zero faulting goes.

I can definitely agree with what you said about practice and feel. I don't know if you saw it but the word "Feel" is in the terms you need to know section. I don't think the best Trials players are the best because of their practice, I think they're the best because they know exactly how to control their bike in every single situation and make it do exactly what they want it to do. Don't get me wrong, you need to practice to learn these techniques, but all in all you just need to have a good feel for the game.

Yeah I read that sorry if you thought I was getting at that this is pointless. Not at all. This could really help some people out. Hell I gotta admit I never really had a set way for doing the very start of Inferno, now that I read your technique on this guide I do it every time. Its just I had never really tryed to get that part down cos I could just restart but in tournaments of course its different.
