Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

Thanks guys. I put descriptions on all of the checkpoints now and I added your suggestions Reaper. The only one I didn't add was the one about the box. First off, I didn't 100% understand what exactly to do, but by what you described it seemed more or less the same as my current method, you are just in a natural position instead of leaning forward. I'd rather not add a different method unless it's quite a bit different. I want to confuse people as little as possible. However, your other Goin' Up suggestion was great and I also added your Inferno II note.

    Great help, cheers Mike.

Looking forward to the Groundhog Forever section as I cannot seem to get consistent on a few of the jumps at all.

A surefire way I found to be consistent on the backwards section with the gap in Goin' Up is to start around the checkpoint in middle position. Simply accelerate and when your wheel touches the wall hold back and flip. From then on its just a case in doing the things you said above, but it really helped me not mess up here when trying to 0 fault it.

First off, thanks for taking the time to put this together. I'm sure it will be quite helpful.

I ask this of you and anyone else.... is this obstacle really as easy as Mike is saying it is?

I have nothing but trouble on this obstacle. My best run on Diabolic so far is 5 faults, and I somehow only 1 faulted this obstacle think), but most runs, I'll fault it 10-15 times. It can't really be as easy as holding right while in the air.... my strategy, which admittedly is not working, is to bunny hop/spring jump/shake stick wildly hoping something will work/sadly give up.

Yes, it is. I do not hold left at all until I'm at the third part of this obstacle and I'm trying to lean over it. It takes a bit of practice to learn exactly how much you need to hold right and when to release it, but there isn't an exact amount that you need to hold right, meaning you have a little bit of room for error. Just make sure you do it enough to at least get your back wheel onto the ramp. If your back wheel doesn't make it, then it's pretty much impossible not to fault. Also, make SURE that you gradually accelerate when you first begin.

@maliciousmike - I would say about 6 hours so far and maybe about another 4 to finish off the last 3. I always go through the course as I write it just to make sure everything that I say actually does work.

Okay, I'll try this tonight. Man, I'm going to feel stupid if it's this easy. Seriously, you should see me when I'm trying to do this obstacle. The left hand is going nuts, my legs are wobbling around, my body is bouncing up and down, hoping that somehow, bouncing on my couch will translate to how my rider performs... it's quite the spectacle. It's my least favourite obstacle in the game, by far.

    Thanks for the help.

Groundhog Forever is complete! However, I do not have a consistent method for doing checkpoint 6 the correct way. If you have one, please let me know what it is if it isn't entirely based on feel.

    Great job, as usual.

You might want to clearly state that the Sixth Checkpoint (skipping the seventh checkpoint) is taking the shortcut route, and that the description of the seventh checkpoint is if you take the "correct" way. I could see it being a little confusing for people who aren't quite sure of what you're talking about.

And I think you made a typo on the fifth checkpoint:

Technique: Do a massive bunny hop and have your back wall hit the barrier in your way first.
Isn't that supposed to be "...and have you back wheel hit the barrier..."?

i had the same trouble as you. i'd mark this down as an 8/10 difficulty personally cos it was always a combo-breaker for me. and the method i now use myself and it seems to work consistently (enough to get my 0 fault + plat last night yeeeha!) is to reverse to the barrel and pt your driver in sit position. then accelerate and spring jump before the end of the ramp landing sitting down on the next platform, then same again, and again. i find this works a treat for me and just shows there's different ways to do each obstacle. i tried Mike's method last night and while i'm sure it works for some/lots of people, i just can't do it that way.

and yes, must add this is a great great thread . it's most interesting to see the different ways (to my own) to tackle each obstacle.
