Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

this is gonna be a great guide i think. probably should be stickied.

i shall try a few methods to try and zero fault diabolic tonight. i'm on 2 faults. just two places i struggle to get past first time every time.

i look forward to the other tracks, even if i have a method of how to do them consistently i'm interested to see how you do them as well.

Maybe you could include a video link for each track, and then in the title of each checkpoint, you could list the time in the video that the checkpoint is at. For example:

Inferno II (Use this video for reference: http://www.lolrandomurl.com)

    ....

    1st Checkpoint (0:03)

I know a visual reference would definitely help at least me a lot, since I personally have trouble sometimes figuring out where a certain checkpoint is in a track.

I totally agree with this idea but I just don't have a good way to record a run. And if I were to put a video as a part of my guide, I would like it to be good quality. So if anyone would be willing to make a video using the techniques that I describe in my guide, you would definitely get full credit for making it and a whole lot of thanks.

Goin' Up is spot on and pretty much how I approach each obstacle.

@ Mike: i've checked my replay on diabolic, and i do use the 3rd ramp recovery to the letter, and its a much better guide than me typing about it, so if you have a look at my replay, which is about 230th, it will give you (and anyone else, for that matter) a much better idea of what i'm on about. The main bit you'll want to see is how far away it looks like you are from making it, but are still able to.

also, i'll look through the guide to goin' up later, when it isnt half nine, and i dont have work due for tomorrow, lol

Thanks a lot Akatsuki! And Mike is fine by me haha. I'll do my best to get Inferno II done by the end of tonight.

EDIT: Inferno II is now done. Three of those checkpoints took up 75% of the time to write it...

EDIT 2: I also have a favor to ask of you guys. If you are reading and you say to yourself "well that's not how I do it at all", then please tell me how you do it! We are all obviously very varied in skill levels and also in what we are good at. So if you have an alternate method that you think is somewhat consistent, then please tell me so I can add it.

Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

thanks for the inferno guide. that'll certainly help me get my last platinum on the single tracks

    also, alternate methods goin up:
    (sorry for the bad pun)

    Goin' up

    Checkpoint 8 alternate method:
starting point: checkpoint start, neutral position
Technique: coast very slowly towards the edge of the platform. as soon as your front wheel comes off the platform throw the biker forwards (right) and hold him there. you should do a front flip, and land backwards going down the lowest ramp.

@mike: view my replay for a better guide. its a platinum run, but not by a huge amount, so it shouldnt be too hard to find. i'll edit this post with the time/position later.

    checkpoint 9 (slightly) alternative method:
starting point: front wheel just over the last of the I beams below the wood. natural position (sitting on the bike, not leaning anywhere). you'll need to tap the gas to hold it there
Technique: first, go full power and throw and hold the rider left. you will do a small wheelie. when your back wheel gets near the box (not sure of exact distance) throw the rider right, then left again.
when the back wheel is on the box give it a little gas and lean back to make sure you dont fall off the box. then come off the power and lean forwards.
this should get the front wheel on the flat bit of the box, and the back on the incline. now all you need to do is roll back a little way so you can get enough speed to make it up to the next checkpoint.
watch my replay for the timing that i'm not sure of. again, its a platinum run, but not by a huge margin

    Inferno 2

on the 2 wodden pallet inclines, sometimes i like to let my front wheel hit the flat one, like you said to do on the first platform of the second checkpoint. however, i'm equally inconsistent using both methods, so i'll leave it to someone else to type this one up

    Great work!

Would be nice if you added names for the checkpoints like you did with 'the tires'. Makes it a bit easier to navigate and find that exact obstacle you hate.

    All in all, impressive work!
