The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extremes)

    Introduction

The Midnight Club is a Downloadable Content (DLC) Tournament in which all 6 of the extreme courses are in. It's pretty much hands down the most difficult thing in the entire game to get platinum on and to 0 fault. Thus, I made this guide to help people who are struggling with it.

***READ THESE 2 PARAGRAPHS FIRST***The walkthrough for the extreme courses is further down in this post. You may go to it now to get help on whichever checkpoint you are struggling on. However, I highly advise you to read the rest of the non-walkthrough part of the guide so that you can understand everything that I will try to explain to you. Do not post until you have read all of the non-walkthrough part of the guide, as it may answer your question. I'm not trying to sound mean, I'm just trying to save some posts. Use CTRL + F to find the course you are looking for. t's Goin' Up, not Going Up, just so you know)

This tournament is insanely hard. My guide is not full proof at all. You are still able to fault at any given time on any obstacle despite using my suggested techniques. If you don't want to use what I suggest, then don't. There are certain techniques that you are expected to be able to do in order to use this guide properly. I will do my best to explain them, but you must be able to perform them yourself. Furthermore, this guide is entirely based on attempting to 0 fault Extreme courses and has nothing to do with time. Do not expect to get a fast time using these techniques.***READ THESE 2 PARAGRAPHS FIRST***

Terms and techniques you need to be able to know and do

Wheelie - Getting your bike onto one wheel. Obviously we can all pull a wheelie. However, you need to be relatively good at controlling your bike while only on one wheel. There are times where you will need to just tap a platform with your back wheel and continue on. When dropping down onto a platform, you should be able to balance yourself on your back wheel when you land so that you can still accelerate off of it and stay on your back wheel.

Feel - Feel almost directly translates into practice. I use this term a lot so I figured I should try and define it. It's basically you knowing what to do with your bike at exactly the right time. There are probably certain things in the game that are difficult to do, but since you have a feel for them, you can do them consistently well.

Bunny Hop - Hopping off of the ground using just your bike. To do this, you move the joystick left-right-left. It is not just that simple, though. This is something that you need to be able to very easily. It should be second nature. This video is an example of a bunny hop. The actual act of him getting his bike in the air from his own movement is a bunny hop.

Spring Jumping - Using a wheelie and your momentum to get an extra amount of boost off of a ramp/jump. You do a very similar motion that you do for a bunny hop, but you are usually moving to the right already and you have to time this so that you "spring" off of the end of the jump.

Gradual Acceleration - Definition is self-explanatory. Whenever you go from no throttle to full throttle quickly, your balance is greatly affected by which direction your rider was leaning and by how quickly you accelerated. When you gradually accelerate your balance is barely affected no matter which way your rider is leaning. If you find yourself getting too unbalanced when trying a technique, then try to gradually accelerate to see if it helps.

Starting Position - This is where you want your rider to be located for my suggested technique. This is also the direction in which your rider should be leaning on his bike when you start the technique. There may not always be a starting position for every obstacle.

Leaning vs. Holding - When I tell you to lean in a certain direction, it means your rider should be leaned in that direction and that you should not be holding that direction down. When I say hold in a certain direction, it means hold the joystick in that direction.

Hitting an Incline - This is just something you need to know how to do. When you are hitting a steep incline, you want to hit it with your back tire first while leaning forward. You should learn this technique from just playing the game.

    Walkthrough

When I say "1st checkpoint", that means the starting point. The "2nd checkpoint" is the first checkpoint that you would reach. Each corresponding obstacle is the obstacle after the checkpoint.

Each Checkpoint has a difficulty rating based on the current consistency of the described technique and how easily you can recover and try again. I may be able to do something 90% of the time because I have a really good feel for it, but the method I use is not consistent, so it would get a 9/10 difficulty rating. More or less, the rating states how much practice it takes before you get somewhat consistent at that obstacle.

Some checkpoints have different methods that are both consistent for different people. These will be numbered as "1.", "2.", etc.

When I say "hold a certain direction", that doesn't mean "hold that direction until I tell you to stop". Use your best judgment on which directions need to be held at which time when I am not specific.

Sometimes there will be Recovery section. These are certain common situations in which you mess up when trying to complete an obstacle, but there is still a way to save yourself.

    Diabolic

1st Checkpoint* - Over the barrel and fire
    Difficulty: 9/10
Starting Position: Hold right and fully accelerate during the countdown
Technique: This is actually one of the most difficult obstacles in the game when talking about consistency. From the countdown, hold right and gas hard. Slightly before your front wheel hits the ramp hold left. Just after your back wheel comes off of the top of the ramp, hold right. From this point, keep holding right until your back wheel is level with the barrel. Once it is level, hold left and gas off of the barrel. You can try to do a slight bunny hop of you can off of the barrel to make sure you don't catch on fire. Make sure you don't flip backwards while accelerating off of the barrel, either.

2nd Checkpoint - The four boxes
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, close to the pipe behind you
Technique: Accelerate. Hold left so that you are doing a wheelie as you hit the first box. Keep your back wheel down and hit the last two boxes with it while accelerating over them.

    Recovery
Situation: If you are on the third box but your back wheel didn't make it.
What to do: Do not hold anything and just reverse. Once you are 3/4 the way back onto the second box, accelerate and you should be able to make it over the last two.

3rd Checkpoint - Inclined wooden ramp
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, on the first wooden plank as close as you can get to the left side
Technique: Gas and hold right. Once your back tire hits the second wooden plank, bunny hop by pressing left-right and it should propel you up to the higher wooden plank. Land with your back tire first while leaning forward and make your way over the plank.

4th Checkpoint* - Two sets of vertical logs
    Difficulty: 7/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, moving slowly forward, middle of the wooden ramp leading up to the logs
Technique: You want to do a spring jump over the logs so that you you have enough height to get over the logs, but enough forward momentum to get over the second set of logs. Your back tire should hit the first set of logs and it should flip you slightly and you should have enough momentum to get your front tire on the second set of logs. Be careful when coming down off of the second set of logs, it's easy to fault.

    Recovery
Situation: Stuck on top of the second set of logs with your back wheel dangling above the explosives.
What to do: Hold Right. Gas. Brake. Gas. Brake. Gas. Brake. Repeat. Be careful once you finally get over the logs, it's easy to fault when trying to land.

5th Checkpoint - Small ramp with three wooden platforms
    Difficulty: 8/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, rolling slowly backwards, front part of front tire should be lined up with the beginning of the wooden ramp
Technique: Accelerate while holding right and quickly do a right-left-right spring jump. You want to time it perfectly with the edge of the ramp so that it propels you higher into the air. If you did it correctly, your back tire should land on the second wooden platform and from there you can just tap it with your back tire (make sure you are balanced directly on your back tire when you hit it) and move on to the next platform and checkpoint.

    6th Checkpoint - The tires
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, at the checkpoint start
Technique: Gradually Accelerate, but do so relatively quickly. Hold left after accelerating and do a wheelie while going up the first wheel. While in the air, lean forward and gas as you land on the second wheel. When your front tire is directly on the top middle of the second wheel, hold right and gas and either hope you make to the top wheel, or you can bunny hop to the top wheel by basically just hitting right at the correct time. Once on the top wheel, just cruise over the rest to the next checkpoint.

7th Checkpoint* - The ramp and suspended barrel
    Difficulty: 9/10
    Starting Position: Doesn't really matter.
Technique: Slowly creep over the edge while applying the brake on and off. Once your bike is fully on the ramp, accelerate and make sure your rider is leaned back. Every time you creep down the ramp you will hit the ramp in a slightly different spot. This makes consistency very difficult. Just try your best to get enough speed. Once in the air and you should have gone over the barrel and be heading down toward a ramp. You want to make your rider almost as parallel as you can with the ramp and be leaned forward when you hit it. Be sure your back tire hits slightly first, though. Gas very lightly just as you hit the ramp and then don't hold anything. Accelerate and half way up the ramp hold right. Once on top, just go over the ramp to the next checkpoint.

8th Checkpoint - The three suspended ramps leading upward
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back tire against the barrel behind you.
Technique: Gradually accelerate quickly. While in the air hold right just enough to have your back tire catch the ramp. While on the ramp, hold right until you get in the air. Repeat the last two sentences. Once in the air again, just teeter your way over the last wooden plank and land on the platform below.

9th Checkpoint - The huge jump
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back tire against the X behind you.
Technique: 1. You basically just do big spring jump off of the little ramp in front of you. Try to have the flick of the jump be directly on the edge of the ramp. Do a flip in the air and you should easily make it across.
    2. You can also fall all the way down to the floor and reverse all the way to the base of the previous platform's scaffolding. You do the same thing as described above. Just do your bunny hop as close to the edge as possible. Then just go over the stuff to the next checkpoint.

10th Checkpoint - The steep wooden ramp incline
    Difficulty: 1/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back tire against the wall behind you.
Technique: Accelerate while holding right. Half way up the ramp you are going to do a left and then a right motion to propel yourself over the wall with momentum to the right. It's somewhat difficult to fault here, so you will have multiple tries if you mess up. Very easy once you get a feel for it.

11th Checkpoint - The three wooden ramps leading over the barrier
    Difficulty: 7/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, back tire against the object behind you.
Technique: Alright, this is a somewhat complex technique to do. Gradually accelerate and hold left just before you hit the first ramp. Do a bunny hop off of the first ramp so that you can make it to the second one. Have your front tire hit the second ramp first and then do another left-right-left bunny hop onto the third ramp. On the third ramp it is best to just do a left-right motion on it and try to somewhat wheelie it and propel yourself all the way over to the next checkpoint.

    Recovery
Situation: If you are stuck on the third ramp.
What to do: Hold right. Accelerate gradually, but reasonably quick up the ramp. Do a left-right spring jump and you should hit the barrier that's in the way. Now, hold right and the BRAKES. This will usually get you over the plank, but the landing is quite tricky.

Situation: If you are stuck on the barrier with just your front wheel hooked on the other side.
What to do: Lean back slowly and accelerate hard so that your back wheel hits the barrier. Once your back wheel hits, lean back hard and do a back flip off of the barrier. Have your bike be horizontal so that your front wheel pushes off of the third plank. It takes a little bit of luck, but you should get pushed back onto the right half of the second plank and be able to hit down on that but still stay on it. It is advised to brake fairly hard when you hit it so that you don't fly off of the back end. From here, just accelerate onto the third ramp and follow the instructions from the other recovery.

    12th Checkpoint - Wooden platform
    Difficulty: 1/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, middle of platform
Technique: Don't hold anything and reverse. When you reverse there will be a point when your back tire with sway from left to right. When this occurs, hold left and do a back flip down onto the platform.

13th Checkpoint - Wooden platforms and gap
    Difficulty: 6/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: You basically have to use your momentum from the current platform, drop down to the one in front of you and use that to bounce over the gap to the next checkpoint. You have to accelerate enough off of the first platform to get enough speed, but not too much so that you fall straight into the gap. Just do a bunny hop as you hit the second platform to bounce over the gap.

14th Checkpoint - 3 barrels and rocket boost
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start.
Technique: Just accelerate and hit the first barrel with the backwheel/engine area of your bike. While hitting the barrel, do not touch ANYTHING. Your momentum should drop you down to the platform below. Make sure to balance yourself so that you actually land it. Keep accelerating and hit the rocket booster. Just hold left and then right to make it over the wall and complete the course.

    Goin' Up

    1st Checkpoint - 2 wooden inclined planks
    Difficulty: 4/10
    Starting Position: The "Spawn Point"
Technique: Hold left and accelerate just after the countdown. Immediately after touching the ramp (which is basically .2 seconds after the countdown ends), switch to holding right and you should be propelled to the second ramp. You basically have to do a slight wheelie on the second ramp when you accelerate on it after landing on it. Hit the box while doing this wheelie and you will be able to lean onto it. It requires feel, but isn't that hard.

2nd Checkpoint - Angled barrel and steep wooden plank
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back tire in the "V" of the barrel and wooden plank
Technique: Do not hold either direction. Make sure your rider is not bouncing at all. Accelerate. Just before your back wheel hits the next angled plank, hold right. You should be propelled all the way to the top and then just ride to the next checkpoint.

    3rd Checkpoint - 2 wooden planks and 1 pipe
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, trying to keep yourself steady, on the pipe in the middle of the two wooden planks
Technique: While on this pipe with both tires touching it, gradually accelerate while holding right. When your back tire is half way up the second ramp, release the gas but keep holding right and you should be able to lean onto the next platform and checkpoint.

    4th Checkpoint - 1 wooden plank and 2 pipes
    Difficulty: 4/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Accelerate hard and hold left simultaneously from your starting position. As you hit the ramp with your back tire, you'll want to hold right for a little bit and this should get you onto the first pipe. Just ride up these two pipes and do a slight wheelie on the second one to make it onto the next checkpoint.

    5th Checkpoint - Railroad tracks
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Gas hard and hold right once you hit the railroad tracks. You should be doing a wheelie when you hit them. Try to balance yourself on the upper part of the tracks and then continue up to the next checkpoint by continuing to balance and accelerating appropriately.

6th Checkpoint - Steep metal plates
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, front wheel almost touching the ramp
Technique: Accelerate hard and hold left simultaneously. Just before your back wheel hits the ramp hold right. You should get enough momentum to make it to the next checkpoint.

7th Checkpoint - Wooden planks where you fall downwards
    Difficulty: 6/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Accelerate slightly and hit the middle of the first platform with your back wheel first. As soon as you hit it, hold right. You will then most likely hit the second platform (the one on the left) with your back wheel first. Once you hit that platform, hold left again so that you hit the third platform. Hit that platform with your back wheel first and then hold right again, just like before. Gas hard off of this last platform and have your back wheel hit the incline first and hold right just as you hit it. Just balance yourself out and go up to the checkpoint.

Note: You may not have to exactly hold the directions that are described above nor hit a specific wheel on a specific ramp before the other wheel. Just keep trying to balance yourself out and hit the platforms while preparing for the next one.

8th Checkpoint - Wooden ramps where you go backwards
    Difficulty: 8/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: 1. Accelerate and hit the wall in front of you with your front wheel a little bit before your back wheel. Very slightly gas it for almost no time at all, just a tiny bit. Lean back as you hit the wall and as you are coming off of it. At a certain point in the air you probably want to let go of it. You want your front wheel to go as much down the ramp as you can while making sure that your back wheel doesn't touch the ground until you have enough momentum to make it across the gap. After this, the next part is all about feel. You basically have to be going fast enough to make it across the gap, but slow enough so you don't hit your head. Just make sure you are leaning forward the whole time you are doing this part (unless you have to balance yourself out in some way, obviously).

    2. Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Gas slowly forward until your back wheel is about to fall off of the ramp. Just before it falls off, brake hard and hold right. You want to do a quick front flip and use your momentum to hit the ramp and go to the left.

    Recovery
Situation: You didn't get enough momentum to make it over the gap and you are stuck in the wooden ramp area.
What to do: Gas up the ramp on your right and get onto the higher flat platform. Lean back (do not hold) and gas towards that wall. As you hit it, lean right so that you go up in the air but are going back a little bit. You will not want to hold gas the whole time or you will go too far to the left. Do a backflip in the air and use the same technique described above to get enough momentum and make it across the gap.

    9th Checkpoint - The Box
    Difficulty: 7/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, moving slightly forward, the middle of your bike should be positioned on the line that separates the first two angled ramps
Technique: This is one of the hardest obstacles in the entire game to pass. However, it only gets a 7/10 because it's pretty hard to fault on unless you really go crazy. Basically, from the SP, you do a spring jump mixed with a bunny hop to get enough momentum to make it over the box. You will be doing a left-right-left motion to get onto the box. Using this technique, you will want to hold left the instant you hit the box with your back tire or else you will flip too far the the right. Just accelerate off of the box and onto the next checkpoint.

10th Checkpoint - The barrel and steep metal beam
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Just do a wheelie and hit the barrel hard with your back tire while accelerating over it. Once you are on top of it, let go of gas, lean forward, and very gradually make your way over the beam.

11th Checkpoint - The metal barrels and steep incline
    Difficulty: 7/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, moving slowly backwards, on the platform
Technique: 1. This is pretty much the exact same as the 4th checkpoint except that it's just harder. You don't have much room to maneuver but as you are backing up you want to accelerate hard and hold left. As you are hitting the ramp hold right and hopefully you can get onto the upper inclined area and make your way to the next checkpoint.

    2. Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, your entire bike is on the incline with just your back tire touching the ground
Technique: Hold right and gas hard. As your back tire goes over the lip of the barrel, you have to balance yourself and make your way to the top. Sometimes this method puts you in the perfect position and sometimes it's nearly impossible to balance correctly. However, if you know it's risky to try and make it, just fall back down and try again.

12th Checkpoint - Steep wooden planks
    Difficulty: 8/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, moving slowly backwards, left edge of the platform
Technique: Alright, the only consistent way that I've found to do this one is somewhat difficult. When you begin, you are going to accelerate hard and do a left-right-left-right motion with the joystick. It takes practice, but if you do it correctly your back wheel should stay on the ramp the entire time and you should be propelled above to the second section. Just slow yourself down on the upper inclines and gradually accelerate your way to the top.

13th Checkpoint - Wooden planks with explosive
    Difficulty: 6/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, moving slowly backwards, middle of the horizontal platform
Technique: This technique is very similar to what is used throughout this entire level. As you are moving slowly backwards, accelerate hard and hold left and then right. You want to do a wheelie just barely over the tip of the ramp in front of you so all of your momentum is to the right instead of going straight up. You don't need to get your front wheel over it to still get enough momentum to the right. Once in the air, just prepare yourself to balance on the incline. This incline is very steep, so take your time because if you fall you are almost guaranteed to fault. Just make it over the top and onto the finish.

    Inferno II

    1st Checkpoint - Wooden ramp
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back tire against the logs behind you
Technique: Gas hard while holding right. Just after your back tire hits the actual ramp, hold left. Immediately after your back tire gets off the ramp, hold right again and you should easily make it onto the platform.

2nd Checkpoint - Pendulum with gaps and metal beam
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, back tire on the left edge of the platform
Technique: Gas hard but control yourself so you don't flip backwards. You want to be doing a slight wheelie as you are on the platform. Do a small spring jump off of the ramp; it should be a quick right-left motion. Have just your back tire hit the wooden block and accelerate immediately off of it onto the beam. Balance yourself out and get over the beam and onto the next platform.

3rd Checkpoint - Wooden pillar and going backwards
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, middle of the platform but slightly closer to the pillar
Technique: Gas hard and hold left. You want to hit the pillar and backflip off of it back onto the platform you came off of. Then just ride along the fallen pillar and drop to the metal plate. While on that platform just do a small bunny hop over the explosives and then lean back and let your back wheel hit the ramp first. As you land, lean forward and let your momentum take you wall the way down to the next checkpoint.

    4th Checkpoint - The Tires
    Difficulty: 9/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back tire on the wall to your left
Technique: This checkpoint takes some practice to get used to and is regarded as one of the most difficult in the game to be consistent on. However, with the right technique and practice, it is not as difficult as a lot of people think. You want to very slowly gas and be leaning forward on the first tire. While still somewhat on the top of the tire, bu slightly right-of-center, hold left and gas very lightly off of the tire. You want to hit the second tire on top-top-left area of it and have your front wheel hit first. As soon as you hit it, you want to brake just for a tiny bit and lean hard back and then immediately hard forward again. The whole point of leaning in these directions is so that you can bounce off of the tire enough and land with your front wheel first on the third tire. As soon as you are landing on the third tire, gas hard and lean back and try to do a bunny hop as much as you can and you should bounce to the right at least enough to get over the fire. Even if you don't make it all the way onto the pipe, don't start accelerating like crazy to get away from the fire. You can actually touch the fire and somehow not get caught on fire, but go too far and it will light you up. Just gas up the little ramp and pipe and onto the next checkpoint.

5th Checkpoint and 6th Checkpoint - Wooden plank inclines and metal I-beams
    Difficulty: 7/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: I put these two checkpoints together because I personally feel that you should do them all in one fluid motion without stopping and finding a new Starting Position. The first half of this checkpoint is almost entirely based on your own skill of hitting inclines. From the starting point, accelerate and do a wheelie while holding left. Just ride your back tire on the small platform and then onto the incline. You can also have your front then back tire hit it, but it's all up to personal preference. Accelerate up the incline onto the second one, and then get enough speed off of this incline to make it onto the next object. Do not accelerate hard up the entire ramp or else you will actually get too much speed and it makes it very difficult to not fault. It will take some practice getting used to how much speed you need. I would advise you to start accelerating with your tire about 1/3 the way up the ramp. Meaning that you will still accelerate for 2/3 of the ramp. Hit the next object with both tires and immediately accelerate off of it. Do not stop on it at all. Try to go as far to the right in the air as you can. You should now be flying towards a slightly inclined beam. You want to lean way back and gas hard as you hit this. You want to be leaned way back, but actually in the process of leaning forward as you hit it. Lean back again just as you land and try to balance yourself on this beam. You should be able to stay on this beam. However, if you can't stay on the beam and you start to slide off to the left it will be alright. The 6th checkpoint is down at the bottom of the steep beam that you hopped over before. Obviously slow yourself down as much as you can before you start to fall. The key to surviving when you slide backwards is to NOT try to ride down the ramp. Do not make your bike parallel with the steep beam, keep your bike horizontal as much as you can. You want to go straight down as much as you can and to the left as little as you can. Keep your front tire against the beam as you fall down (your bike should still be horizontal as much as you can make it) if you have to. Either brake hard or gas hard just as you land at the 6th checkpoint and it should be relatively easy to stay on the platform. Once you get settled, ride up the steep slope carefully and onto the not-as-steep beam. Get settled on this beam as much as you can. Start on the left side while leaning forward. Gradually accelerate while holding right. You should see a flame on the wall in the background. Just as your front tire is on this flame, let go of right. You should do a wheelie and your front wheel should be right at the top of the vertical beam in front of you. As you hit the beam, hold right and then left again and balance yourself out. Ride up this beam and onto the next checkpoint.

    7th Checkpoint - The Pipes
    Difficulty: 7/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, anywhere on the ground
Technique: This is another checkpoint that is regarded as one of the most difficult in the game to pass and to be the most consistent at. There are 3 main techniques to try that a lot of people use.

    1. The first technique is to straddle the pipes. Ride onto the first pipe and get on top of it so that your engine is grinding on it. Lean forward and just before your engine falls off the right edge of the pipe, lean back and gas hard. You may want to do a slight bunny hop off of it if you can just to make sure you'll make it to the next pipe. When landing on the second pipe, just focus on centering yourself as much as possible. Lean forward slowly and again, just before your engine falls off the right edge of the pipe, lean back and gas hard to get to the third pipe and repeat the same process. Center yourself, lean right until engine almost falls off, lean left and gas hard. Now you have 2 options: 1.) Just gas off the third pipe and land on the 4th and then ride off onto the platform. This one is a little more safe but it can be tricky stopping on the platform with the checkpoint on it. 2.) While accelerating off of the third pipe, do a bunny hop to skip over the fourth pipe entirely and land with two wheels flat on the platform. This makes it very easy to stop on the platform but the bunny hop can be difficult to do for some people.

    2. Starting Position: Leaned forward, moving slowly backwards, checkpoint start
Technique: This technique is difficult to do but some people are more consistent with it. You accelerate hard and do a big bunny hop so that your back wheel hits first pipe. You basically need to balance yourself with just your back wheel on all of the pipes. Every time you do this it will be slightly different, so the best advice I can give you is to plan what you are going to do at the end. Some people skip the fourth pipe entirely and some will hit every pipe. Just do your best to slow down at the end and brake at the ending platform.

    3. Straddle the first pipe. As you accelerate off of it, do as big of a bunny hop as you can so that your back wheel makes it onto the second pipe. From here, just keep accelerating and using your back tire to hit each pipe until you make it to the last platform. This is just a combination of the first two methods.

    8th Checkpoint - The barrels
    Difficulty: 4/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, middle of platform
Technique: Do a bunny hop onto the barrels and try to have your back wheel stay on the barrels as much as you can without flipping backwards. Just keep working at it and eventually you should make it over the barrels and onto the next checkpoint.

    Recovery
Situation: You fell into the gap between the wooden platform and the barrels.
What to do: You want to do a backflip off of the barrels in front of you and get back onto the wooden platform. Start out being leaned forward and slightly accelerating into the barrels ahead of you. So your engine is running but you aren't moving anywhere. Immediately let go of gas and begin to reverse. Before your back tire hits the pipes behind you, hold left and THEN accelerate hard and do a backflip off of the barrels to get back onto the platform. You want to hold left and then accelerate, you CANNOT hit them at the same time. You will want to hit them at the same time, but you can't or it won't work. Once you are doing the backflip, keep holding left and then just hold brake until you come all the way around.

9th Checkpoint - The barrier and the pendulums
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back tire against the barrel behind you
Technique: Accelerate hard while holding right and just do a big bunny hop off of the platform and have your back tire slightly hit the big object in front of. Try to do a little bunny hop flick off of it and you should have enough momentum to make it onto the next platform. Just keep moving forward, be careful of the pendulums, and ride to the finish line.

Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

    Walkthrough - Continued

    Groundhog Forever

1st Checkpoint - Metal ramp, shipping crate, and gap
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, on the shipping crate as far left as you can be
Technique: Gradually accelerate. About halfway up the crate hold left and then at the end of it do a bunny hop off of the shipping crate and onto the next platform. You want your bunny hop to give you forward momentum as opposed to upward momentum. It's advised to lean way back in the air and let your back wheel hit the wall first and then sort of slam your front end down. If you get a good enough hop then you can very easily make it without having to do anything special.

2nd Checkpoint - Metal ramp and big gap
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, as far left as you can be
Technique: First of all, if you cleanly made it to the current platform without hitting the edge of the ground, then just keep on accelerating up the ramp to the next checkpoint. You should easily make it. Otherwise, from the SP, Accelerate HARD without holding either direction. You should do a slight wheelie and then sort of literally hit the ramp so that as you come off of it you bounce slightly. As you do hit the ramp and bounce, hold left. While in the air, you want your back tire to hit the wall first, so be sure to lean fairly far backwards. You should try to hit the wall and have your back wheel help you to accelerate over it. Lean forwards and your bike should accelerate off of the wall and then propel you forwards to the next checkpoint. If you are having trouble then you probably aren't leaning back enough or you have too much forward momentum when you hit the wall. You may want to practice this technique on the 5th checkpoint of this course. It's a similar action but on a smaller scale.

3rd Checkpoint - Metal ramp with metal platform
    Difficulty: 7/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, front just in front of the first line of the metal ramp
Technique: Gradually accelerate and do not lean in either direction. Once in the air, quickly balance yourself so that your back tire will hit the ramp and you can do a wheelie on it while accelerating off of it while also doing a bunny hop at the same time. You want to do as big of a bunny hop off of this ramp as you can. If you do a good bunny hop then you will be able to shoot all the way over the next ramp and brake before running into anything. If you don't do a good bunny hop then just try to prepare yourself when you hit the ramp so that you do not flip over and fault. You should be able to easily make it over the ramp every time, it's just a matter of whether or not you can control yourself when you hit the ramp. It may help to hit the brakes when you are hitting the ramp, but every scenario is different.

4th Checkpoint - Getting over wooden platform
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back wheel aligned with the checkpoint marker
Technique: Do a bunny hop. Be sure that you are leaned forward when you start. You want the left half of your engine to hit the plank you are trying to get over. You should just be able to hit it and lean your way over. Do not try and do a massive bunny hop or you won't hit the plank right and you will most likely fault.

    Recovery
Situation: Your front wheel is somewhere up on the higher platform and your back wheel didn't make it.
What to do: Hold right and brake. There are certain rare occasions where this won't work and you will still flip backwards, but usually this will save you.

5th Checkpoint - Getting over wooden barrier
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, moving very slowly backwards, middle of the current platform
Technique: Do a large bunny hop and have your back wall hit the barrier in your way first. As you hit it, lean forward and you should easily make it over. This is very similar to the second checkpoint.

    Recovery
Situation: Your front wheel is somewhere up on the higher platform and your back wheel didn't make it.
What to do: Hold right and brake. There are certain rare occasions where this won't work and you will still flip backwards, but usually this will save you.

6th Checkpoint* skipping the 7th Checkpoint - The Flip
    Difficulty: 8/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back wheel on the beginning of the ramp
Technique: First off, you are taking a shortcut when doing this technique. Instead of doing a backflip off of the wall in front of you, you are just going to hope directly over the wall. You want to do a bunny hop/spring jump off of the ramp so that your back wheel briefly hits the wall in front of you. You want to be leaning forward the entire time in the air including just before you come off of the ramp. This is actually the same concept as checkpoints 2 and 5, but just an extreme version of it. Once you get your tire ABOVE the edge of the ramp, hit the brakes and do you best to lean over the ramp entirely and onto the next checkpoint. Be sure to hit the brakes only AFTER your front wheel is over the edge above you. If you brake to early you'll just stop on the wall and fall down and fault. If you know you are going to be short when attempting the shortcut, you can attempt to gas off of the wall and do a backflip to try and save yourself.

    Recovery
Situation: You are hanging off of the wooden plank type thing above the ramp with just your front wheel.
What to do: Gas and hold left to do a backflip off of the wall.

Situation: Your front wheel is hanging over the ramp that is on the ground.
What to do: Lean all the way forward carefully. Do not flip forward off of the ramp. After leaning forward lean back quickly and your front wheel should pop back over the front edge of the ramp.

7th Checkpoint - Wooden platform and gap
    Difficulty: 2/10
    Starting Position: Leaned forward,
Technique: If you do make it up here, just do a bunny hop over the gap, it shouldn't be a problem at all. Just make sure you still try your hardest to do a good bunny hop. A small one probably won't work.

8th Checkpoint - Metal ramp, metal platform, and 2 gaps
    Difficulty: 4/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, do not touch anything and you will automatically come to this position
Technique: Gas hard and hold right. In the air release the gas and balance yourself out so that both of your wheels will hit the metal platform. Brake carefully on this metal platform and be sure to keep both wheels on it. Lean back and do a bunny hop onto the next platform area. Try to be slowly moving backwards when you attempt this bunny hop. You should do a bunny hop so that your engine hits the edge that you are trying to get over. You can also be leaned forward when you attempt the bunny hop, but it's a little bit tricky to try and lean forward and stay on the metal platform. This should be similar to Checkpoint 4.

9th Checkpoint - Big pipe barrier and ramp over explosives
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, a little bit right of the checkpoint start
Technique: Do a bunny hop and have your back wheel/engine area hit the pipe first. Be sure your bunny hop is more about height than momentum. It should be fairly easy to make it above this pipe. Once on this ramp area, lean forward and accelerate off it from pretty much anywhere in the bottom area of the ramp. You should land on a platform. If you are confident in yourself, and you can attempt to bounce off of this platform and skip over the 10th checkpoint area and onto the end. If you want to take the (usually) safer route, then brake once you hit that platform and slowly gas off of the edge and down into the 10th checkpoint area.

10th Checkpoint - Very steep ramp and big pipe
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Gas hard and hold left and then right as you hit the ramp. You should be launched onto the big pipe and then you just accelerate off of it to the finish line.

    Brown Boxes

1st Checkpoint - Gap and very steep ramp
    Difficulty: 6/10
Starting Position: 1. Leaned forward, not moving, personal preference
Technique: I know you can accelerate from the countdown and make it to the next checkpoint, but when you get to this point with 0 faults your nerves make you mess up on easy stuff. You want to do a bunny hop on to the ramp and try to get your front wheel above the lip of the ramp in front of you. A very important thing to make sure of is to have your back wheel hit the ramp first. If your back wheel doesn't hit the ramp first then you are almost guaranteed to fault if your front wheel didn't make it over the lip. The starting position is personal preference because from almost anywhere on the platform you are able to perform a bunny hop capable of making it to the next checkpoint. However, I would suggest somewhere around the checkpoint start if you want my own opinion.

    2. The second technique is slowly accelerating off of the original boxes and onto the ramp and then accelerating up the ramp to the next checkpoint. Again, you MUST hit your back wheel against the ramp first with this technique. You must also be good at accelerating up steep inclines. You will pretty much have to balance on just your back wheel at some point to get enough of an angle to make it over the lip and onto the next checkpoint.

2nd Checkpoint - Small ramp and gap over explosive
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, reversing, in the the little area to the right of the checkpoint with your back wheel against the box that the checkpoint start is on
Technique: While reversing, accelerate hard and hold left. You should make the gap very easily.

3rd Checkpoint - Large ramp up to a box
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Gradually accelerate and at the top of the ramp hold right. Your bike should be able to land directly in the middle of the box with the next checkpoint on it.

4th Checkpoint - Dropping down between the boxes
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Accelerate very slowly. Hold left the rest of the time until you hit the ground. Brake and gradually creep your way over the edge by continuing to put the brake on and off. If you stop moving because your engine gets caught, then very lightly apply the gas until you begin to fall again. At this point continue to put the brake on and off until you can make it over the edge and land it. Continue to the next checkpoint.

5th Checkpoint - Ramp up to a small platform and then to a set of boxes
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, back tire against the box that the checkpoint start is on
Technique: Hold right and then accelerate hard all the way up the ramp. You should come down with your back wheel directly on top of the box that was at the top of the ramp. With just your back wheel, accelerate as you hit this ramp so that you can safely stop on the next set of boxes. You have to be careful with how much you accelerate. You can under and overshoot the set of boxes, so you need to practice to figure out how much acceleration it requires.

6th Checkpoint - 2 sets of boxes and 2 gaps
    Difficulty: 4/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, left side of the boxes
Technique: Accelerate hard and do a bunny hop onto the next set of boxes. As you hit this next set of boxes you want to accelerate hard and also try to do a bunny hop off of them. It is recommended to be leaned back as you start so that you can't do as big of a bunny hop. A good bunny hop while leaned back should give you the correct distance to still get enough speed and hop off of the middle set of boxes. You CANNOT stop on these boxes or it will be very difficult to make it to the next checkpoint. It's possible to do a huge bunny hop and make it, but it is definitely not recommended.

    7th Checkpoint - Vertical box
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Just do a bunny hop and have your back wheel hit the box first. As it hits the box, lean forward and you should be able to easily make it. If you end up not making it, just hold right and brake hard and hope that you won't flip backwards.

8th Checkpoint - Small angled box and gap up to another box
    Difficulty: 4/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, left side of the platform
Technique: This one is all about timing. You want to try and do a bunny hop, but you want the hop to be directly on that small box. It takes fairly good timing but it isn't too hard. If you don't make it, just keep braking and reversing so that you can try again.

9th Checkpoint - 3 long angled boxes with gaps
    Difficulty: 7/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Somewhat slowly accelerate so that your bike stays mostly horizontal in the air on it's way to the first box. Hold left accordingly to make sure that it does stay horizontal. As you hit the first box, lean forward and accelerate accordingly so that you stay on the box. Accelerate off of the box, but stop accelerating just before your back wheel is off of the box. This should slow you down enough so that you will land perfectly on the next box. Again, get balanced on this box and then accelerate hard off of it. You want to try and do a bunny hop off of it. This should allow you to slightly hit the third box (be sure to accelerate off of any part that you hit) and then get you onto the next wooden platform area. However, if you didn't make it over the third box, then you want to try and get balanced on it and then get a lot of speed off of it. If you only creep over the third box then you will most likely get caught with your back wheel hanging over the left edge of the next platform and you will be forced to fault.

Note: Depending on where you start accelerating on each box greatly depends on where you will end up. So you will most likely have to use your own judgment of how much gas to use at each point.

10th Checkpoint - Hopping over the explosive and dropping down
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Accelerate hard and hold left. You should easily make it over the explosive and then be hitting a wall. Hit the wall with your back wheel first and then lean forward once you hit it. You should pretty easily be able to land on the ground and then the next checkpoint is right there.

11th Checkpoint - Large angled box
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Natural position, not moving, checkpoint start (front tire should be just to the left of the small wooden plank)
Technique: Hold left and accelerate hard simultaneously. Your front wheel should barely make it over the box. If you don't make it just try to balance yourself out and try again. When you do make it on top of the box, hold right and continue to gas. Be careful because it is somewhat easy to fault and flip over. Just continue onto the next checkpoint.

12th Checkpoint - 2 steeply inclined long boxes
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: You want to accelerate and hold left so that your back wheel hits the incline slightly before the front wheel. You should pretty much already know how to hit it so that you can stay on it. Slowly slide to the bottom of the ramp and then accelerate all the way up. As you hit the next incline, you should be close to the top. You will most likely be able it hit it and then have your front wheel over the top edge. From here just accelerate over the top and onto the finish. If you weren't able to get your front wheel over the top, just do your best to balance on the incline and then accelerate over the top and onto the finish.

    Greatest Hits

1st Checkpoint - Rolling sewer pipes
    Difficulty: 1/10
Starting Position: Doesn't really matter at all
Technique: This checkpoint is ridiculously easy if you take your time. All you have to do is wait until the pipe comes close enough to you so that you can jump over it using the ramp. Do the same thing with the second one and then continue onto the next checkpoint.

2nd Checkpoint - Angled logs and gaps
    Difficulty: 2/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Gas hard and hit the first log. You should land relatively in the middle of the next set of logs that make a V shape. Get your bike onto the second log and be leaned forward on it. Accelerate off of it and then you want to hit the next log with only your back wheel and accelerate off of it at the same time. This should allow you to somewhat slam into the fourth and final log while you bounce or accelerate over it. The next checkpoint is on the ground after this log.

3rd Checkpoint - Ramp with some barrels and then a drop
    Difficulty: 4/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, on the ground as left as you can be
Technique: Accelerate and don't hold any direction. Hold right once your front tire is even with the platform you are trying to get on top of. Your back tire should also be on the last barrel that you gas off of at this same time as you hold right. You will have to balance with your front tire to make it onto this platform. Once you are on top of it just accelerate off and onto the next checkpoint.

4th Checkpoint - Wooden plank barrier
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, slightly to the right of checkpoint start
Technique: Do a bunny hop and try to have your bike be somewhat vertical when you hit the plank. If anything you want to be slightly leaned forward instead of leaned back. Then just accelerate up the next incline and onto the next checkpoint.

5th Checkpoint - Wooden ramps and inclines
    Difficulty: 4/10
Starting Position: Doesn't really matter, checkpoint start
Technique: You should be able to fairly easily make it up to the steeply inclined plank. Once here, accelerate off but let go of the gas just before you go off the end of the plank. This should slow you down enough so that you can land and stop on the next platform where the next checkpoint is. When landing and braking on this platform, be careful because you may shoot backwards and off of the platform.

6th Checkpoint - Small jump over wooden plank barrier
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, very slowly moving backwards, as far left as you can be
Technique: Do a large bunny hop off of the tip of the ramp so that you get as high and far of a boost as you can. You should clear the barrier and land on the next platform. You can also have your back tire hit the barrier slightly on top and get a little boost off of that. Either way it's the same beginning technique.

7th Checkpoint - Huge jump over the "high bar"
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, as far left as you can be
Technique: Gas hard and don't hold anything. About 3/4 the way in the air to the next ramp, hold left and brake. After your initial hit on the ramp, release both of these and you should be on your way down the ramp very smoothly. Obviously you may need to adjust when you release left and brake to balance yourself properly. Gas once you are headed down the ramp and you should easily have enough speed to clear the high bar. Just be sure to balance yourself out as you land this big jump and continue along the ramp to the next checkpoint.

8th Checkpoint - Wooden planks ramp up to a steep incline
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, back tire against the piece of wood behind you
Technique: Gas hard and don't hold anything. Your back tire should just barely catch on the wooden plank that you are trying to get to. Continue to gas as you hit this incline and the instant your back tire catches you want to lean forward. This should easily push you in the air enough to at least have your front tire catch on the top of this incline and from there you just need to carefully push your way through to the next checkpoint.

    9th Checkpoint -
    Difficulty: 6/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, middle of platform
Technique: Gas fairly hard and hold left to a certain degree. You want to do a wheelie so that your bike is vertical when you hit the first plank. You want your back tire to hit underneath this plank. As you hit it, lean forward and your back tire will pop above the edge and then lean back to get your whole bike on the platform. I find this method much more consistent than any other method as you have quite a bit of room for error and you are always going slow (well, at least slower than any other method). From this plank, lean forward and back up to the left edge of the platform. You want to basically do the same thing as you did for the first one, except this time the plank is higher up so you need a higher jump. Thus, you will want to be leaned forward and then try to do a large bunny hop so that, again, your back tire hits the platform slightly below it and then lean forward to pop it over the edge. Lean back and balance yourself out.

10th Checkpoint - Gap to metal ramp to metal platform
    Difficulty: 5/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, left side of platform
Technique: Do a bunny hop onto the metal platform. Balance yourself on this platform and then accelerate off of it onto the next metal platform and checkpoint.

    Recovery
Situation: Your front tire is over the edge of the steep metal plate.
What to do: You need to be holding right while not flipping over the metal plate. Lean forward very carefully and slowly. You can either keep rapidly tapping right or very slowly go from middle to right. If you just hold right then you will flip over the whole thing. It's easy to do as long as you are careful. From this position, simultaneously hold left and accelerate hard. Just before your back tire goes off of the ramp, hold right to try and get a slight extra boost. This should be enough to get you to the next platform. As always, try to balance on your front tire when landing if you come up a bit short.

11th Checkpoint - Metal ramps and maybe hopping over the big sewer pipe
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, left side of metal platform
Technique: Accelerate and do a bunny hop onto the next metal platform and immediately accelerate off of that into the next area. You may want to try and immediately bunny hop above the sewer pipe using your current momentum and bounce from landing from the previous ramp. However, if you don't make it or you don't want to risk that, then carefully slide down and hit the next checkpoint. It is advised to slide down and hit this checkpoint just to regain your composure instead of constantly attempting to stay up top and trying to get over the pipe.

Note: It is extremely difficult to make the first gap from the checkpoint start. It is highly advised back up to gain enough speed.

12th Checkpoint - Optional - Hopping over the sewer pipe
    Difficulty: 9/10
    Starting Position: Described in Technique
Technique: You may have skipped this checkpoint entirely if you immediately bounced over the sewer pipe as I said you may want to try and do in the 11th Checkpoint. However, for anyone who didn't, accelerate up this first ramp and then onto the top area where you should be able to see the two metal plates and the sewer pipe that you need to jump over. This checkpoint is very difficult and it takes a lot of feel and practice to get right. When you attempt to pull your bunny hop, you want to be slowly moving forward. You want to be leaned forward and you want your bike to be about 30% on the ramp on the right and 70% on the ramp on the left. You can tell where the two ramps begin and end by the slight angle change in the slope. When you are slowly moving forward and you get your bike to this point, do your best bunny hop and try to evenly get height and forward momentum with it. It's actually a fairly slow overall motion compared to a lot of bunny hops that we do. Just keep practicing until you can get the correct feel down for this part. While in the air, do a couple more bunny hop motions to try and push yourself even more. I'm not 100% sure this helps, but it really seems to. Whenever you don't make the hop (which will be a lot), do NOT brake. Just lean forward as much as you can and you should be able to balance yourself out. However, this will not work every single time.

13th Checkpoint - Jump over large pipe and dropping down
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving, checkpoint start
Technique: Accelerate and hit the ramp while doing a slight wheelie and holding left. Do a slight spring jump off of this ramp and you should easily be able to make it over the next pipe. Accelerate off of it and hit the wall in front of you and drop down. Keep yourself balanced as you land and accelerate up to the next checkpoint.

14th Checkpoint - Jump over wooden plank and very steep valley area and incline
    Difficulty: 3/10
Starting Position: Leaned forward, not moving, all the way back to the left down the long ramp
Technique: 1. You have 2 completely different options here. For the first one, be SURE that you are leaned forward. Accelerate hard and near the end of the ramp do a small spring jump to get enough height to make it over the wooden plank. You now have 2 options: 1.) Continue to gas hard and do a bunny hop off of the wooden plank to keep going all the way to the finish. 2.) Brake fairly hard on this wooden plank and drop down and then go back up to the finish. Just as you get on the bottom right side of this valley, hold right and you should get enough momentum to make it to the finish.

    2. Starting Position: Leaned back, not moving checkpoint start
Technique: Gas hard and lean back slightly and do your best spring jump off of the wooden plank ramp. Once on the top plank, very slowly gas off of it down the steep valley. Just as you get on the bottom right side of this valley, hold right and gas and you should get enough momentum to make it to the finish.

    End of walkthrough.

Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

great work. i really apreciate the guide, and i cant wait for the one for inferno 2, and a couple of stunts on most of the other tracks.

here are a few things that might help you on checkpoints 4, 5 and 11

    Diabolic
    4th checkpoint
starting point: holding forwards, with your front wheel a couple of inches from the next plank (lets say about 1/3rd of the diameter of the wheel)
technique: from the SP, accelarate and lean back at the same time, then when your just in the air hold forward. keep the throttle fully on the whole time.

while still holding forwards, your back wheel will hit the first logs, and should propel you forwards enough for your front wheel to hit the platform of the second logs. keep holding forwards with the throttle open and you should roll off the second platform. then just make sure you dont crash on the landing and you'll hit the next checkpoint

I hope this helps. watch my replay for what i hope is a good demonstration of this technique (cant remember if it is or not right now). it is around 250th, with 0 faults, and a time between 1:50 and 2:00. my GT is Reaper 392 (the same as my username here, but with a space)

    Diabolic
    5th checkpoint

just a note here. i dont know about you, but i've found that theres 1 brick between the contact patch of the bikes front wheel and the ramp for the starting point

    Diabolic
    11th checkpoint

again, a little addition. if you get to the 3rd and final ramp and you know full well you wont make it over going flat out. dont despair, because you can still make it:

Starting point: holding forwards, as far down the ramp as you can be without falling off.
technique: accelerate gradually, but resonably quickly up the ramp. throw the rider backwards, then hold forwards again and you should hit the big plank thats in the way. now, contrary to what every fiber of your body will tell you, hold forwards and the BRAKES. this usually gets you over the plank, but the landing is quite tricky.

this may be on my replay, i'm not sure

also, if you get a bad landing on the second ramp, you can still just about reach the third ramp and be able to do this technique

    i hope this helps

Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

Great job Mike. This is looking amazing so far. Two suggestions:

Eventually, maybe this could turn into a general "Difficult tracks guide"? Things like Prison Break, Isabelle, and King of the Hill aren't exactly the easiest tracks to consistently zero fault either, IMO. No rush though, just a suggestion.

As for another technique, maybe you could add Wheeling. I'm not sure if your term "Bunny Hopping" and the term "Spring Jumping" are the same thing, but wheeling into a spring jump or wheeling across several platforms quickly and smoothly (say, maybe, a set of pipes , but you should include straddling also ) can be very helpful techniques.

If bunny hopping and spring jumping aren't the same thing, then you should definitely include spring jumping in there.

Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

On the first obstacle on Diabolic I accelerate hard from the start, flick back to go into a fast wheelie then flick forward when you hit the ramp. This technique enables me to clear the barrels and the following fire without ever touching either.
I'm not sure if my replay shows this but it works for me

Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

    Reaper,

    Thanks.

For the 4th checkpoint, we basically do the same thing. You do your best to bunny hop (or maybe the correct term is "spring jump") to get enough height and forward momentum to make it over the gap. I'll add some parts of your description, though, because it's easier to understand what exactly to do than in mine. I've also been able to do the exact same thing from all over those planks, so it's kind of hard to say an exact starting point when a lot of spots will work.

I'll be a little bit more descriptive on the exact starting point for the 5th one.

I can add that little tip about recovering on the third ramp in the guide, thanks.

    NfskMjmMal,

Once I'm finally done with all of the extremes, I may start a new thread for the difficult hard tracks, but that'll be a little while from now.

Also, could you define straddling in a Trials sort of way? I'm not exactly sure what you means by that. And ok, to be honest I didn't think bunny hop was the correct term to keep using but I had no idea what else to call it. I think spring jumping is a much better term for a lot of what I was describing.

    EuphoricFusion,

Hmm I tried this and I was only able to do it one time and I BARELY made it. Do you usually clear them both relatively easily? Or is this just a way that you have a really good feel for?

Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

I can hit it 7/10 times doing it that way so it works for me, but it is pretty advanced for anyone that is first trying out. There are quite a few obstacles I clear this way as it bypasses the front wheel completely and helps you get a good spring of the rear suspension.
By no means am I the best rider so don't think I am saying I am above everyone else for doing it this way, it just works for me

Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

Alright I made your suggested changes and added some colors to boot. I also added a "Recovery" section to some of the checkpoints.

And nfmskmjmal (that was a guess) I didn't think I really needed to add "Wheelie" to the terms to know. It just seems like a bit of overkill, you know? I'm pretty sure everybody knows what a wheelie is...

Re: The Midnight Club Guide (How to 0 Fault Extreme Courses)

By straddling I meant the technique for getting past the pipes in Inferno, instead of wheeling quickly through all of them. 1:08 in this video.

As far as wheeling goes, I know that it's a very common term that pretty much everyone knows, but the section I was referring to is titled "Terms and techniques you need to be able to know and do". Wheeling is something that I think people should be able to do (and by that, I mean retaining complete control of the bike while only on one wheel) and people sometimes forget that it's a great option at times. For example, on the pipes in Inferno, if you're not going to do the "straddle" method, then wheeling is your only option, pretty much.

Alright I added the wheelie to the things you need to be able to do. However, if those pipes are the only place that you straddle in the whole game (and I think they are), then I don't think I'm going to add that as an actual technique. I'll obviously mention it during that specific checkpoint, but I don't think it should go in the actual things you need to be able to know and do. If it is used other places, then let me know and I'll add it.
