Wierd, i now find Diabolic SOO MUCH easier than Inferno 2, i probably can 0 fault Diabolic about 70% of the time now, probably because i've had alot of practise from re-doing Midnight Club over & over.Originally Posted by EuphoricFusion
I guess the thing that makes Diabolic easier is the fact that it is all static obstacles and on the brick level when it comes to floor which gives you much better traction.
The amount of times I faulted on the tyres on Inferno and the pipes aswell because of the random acceleration you get off that surface on the run up drove me mental!
the only way to find out who is the most skilled is to blank all of our skills and memories and start all over again. then we each put in 100 hours of play and see who's doing the best in the global rankings after exactly 100 hours!
because no matter how much people play who started with Trials HD, they will never get to the amount of hours the people who played Trials 2SE are on. and so therefore unlikely to reach or ever catch up on the amount of skill. as i improve my skill day by day, so does every player better than me who continues to play Trials HD.
but not taking that into account, the best players are the players with great tournament times imo. that can't be fluked. it doesn't really matter to me if lestropie took 100 hours or less than 6 mins to get his Midnight Club time, he got it and that's that. the athlete with the Gold medal tends to be the best...
individual track times don't say much to me until you get to the Extreme track times. but still, someone can fluke one good run. so i still say pretty much tournaments alone decide how skilful you are.
I'd LOVEEE to know my hours on Trials HD....sorta![]()
Even if I could know this, I would never want my wife to know. I am sure it is in the upper hundreds. I think I put like 56 hours into final fantasy 7 back in the day.I'd LOVEEE to know my hours on Trials HD....sorta

I find it quite reassuring that Trials HD doesn't tell tales...

i havent read the whole thread (reading lestropie's post kinda took too much time), but i would say someone is skilled at the game if they could consistantly get over many extreme obsticles that they have never seen before with few faults.
however, i know theres more holes in that than swiss cheese, but its the best i can come up with when i've got parents shouting at me to do god knows what.
the one thing i would say is that repetition does not give skill, it gives technique for that level, but applying the correct learnt techniques to new situations would be skill
Repetition = practice = increase in skill over time.
No one is instantly good and practice (ie repetition) is the only way to improve your skills.
Improvement of skill will lead to you being able to read an obstacle in a new track and pass it with relatively less faults.
