I play on a 32" SD TV that I purchased back in 2000 along with a PS2. It's certainly no HD, but it has a really nice picture so I'm in no hurry to replace it... Plus it weights like 200lbs and its upstairs so I don't even wanna think about having to move it.
Pioneer Kuro 50" Plasma 1080p (best TV there is) and its a huge difference playing on that and my 32" Samsung LCD.
^^ yes, kuro here as well:
Pioneer - PDP-LX508D
Harman/Kardon - AVR245
QLN - Artech
Okay, so there's a couple ways to do this. If you are using the HD component cable (plugs into the back of your xbox, looks like this: http://cdn1.gamepro.com/article_img/.../110489-15.jpg) flick to HD, and make sure you are using the green, blue, red connectors, and plug into the back of your tv (or whatever you're using) into the corresponding colours. If your tv doesn't have these, then it doesn't support HD component cables.Originally Posted by boris
An HDMI cable is the other option. I think it plugs in directly below the cable above (you only need one or the other) on your xbox. In Canada, you can get an HDMI cable for about 15 - 20 dollars.
I've used both on my television, and haven't noticed any difference between the two. Maybe on a television better than mine you would notice, but I'm not sure. I use HD component cables so I can record to my computer in HD.
EDIT: Also, make sure you do what Jook said.. there is something in one of the menus of the xbox to change the resolution.. you have to do this to get HD quality.
I have had this 42" Panasonic Viera 1080p plasma TV (100hz) for a bit more than a year now... I planned to have this for at least four years, but the newly announced 240hz HDTVs with stereo 3d support (active shutter glasses at 120hz to both eyes) are really really interesting. I haven't liked stereo 3d on movies that much, as the 3d technology in Finnish movie theatres is based on 3x24hz shutter glasses (72hz), and that's a bit too low refresh rate for my eyes (causing minor dizzyness). The forthcoming 240hz stereo 3d TVs should completely remove this issue, and would let me enjoy the stereo 3d at home (lots of 3d Bluray movies are coming up this year). And of course we'd need some stereo 3d games beside Avatar also
HDMI picture quality is better at higher resolutions. If your Xbox outputs at 720p and the TV set upscales it to 1080p, then the quality differency is pretty much unnoticeable. However it's often best to use the Xbox 360 high quality upscaler and let the console output the image at 1080p resolution. This way your TV set can display the image without scaling, and with most TV models this reduces the input lag by 1-2 frames (you can better react to the game, as your actions have a smaller delay).Originally Posted by lespritdelescalier
3d tvs.. please refresh me, do these still require special glasses for use? in that case they are doomed. im not prepared to wear glasses everytime im gonna use my tv.
or is there new technology ive ignored?
i had an argument with my mate about this. i said i swear i saw some guy on the news watching 3d tv without these glasses on. my mate insists you'll need the glasses.Originally Posted by eflixxx
searching the net, i couldn't find an answer either way.
i agree they are doomed if glasses are needed. i had laser surgery on my eyes so i never had to wear glasses again!!! wearing shades is my limit.
Jook, lespirit thanks for clearing that up for me.
i have a samsung 1080p... with a hdmi cable i paid 30 pound for ( official x box one ) the difference is very noticable.. but ive read 720- 1080 only comes into play if tv is min of 40inch as the screen aint large enugh to show the detail... my mate plays on a 28in 480p with a hdmi cable and the picture is good also. i put that down to smaller size..... as for 3D it was on the gadget show you do need glasses but not the silly blue and green things. they look like huge sunglasses.
Woohooo, finally someone understands what i'm goign through!Originally Posted by T4KShadow![]()
