While in hindsight i would have passed him eventually, at the time i was trying to pass Saudi Pro overall and i found his replay and he dumped the bombs so instead of spending days getting blown up over and over i spent hours. I already had plat when i dropped the bombs btw, i needed the additional points i got from going from the 1400's to the 200's(?).
I guess it depends on how comfortably you're ahead of the person behind you in the GL. You don't have to worry about me coming up on you, but if i was 7-15th i'd get every point i could.
No, i understand, that you DO have a choice, but if your competitive and want to prgoress even higher, you pretty much have to do it because you'll be at an unfair advantage, that you could make fair.Originally Posted by pahapertti

know it's arguable that the underground 'route' and dropping the bombs may be two different things)
I already had plat before i decided to drop the bombs, it was physically impossible to catch up the the people who dumped the bombs because they were so much meters ahead of me, and that calculates to alot of points/score.
I'm absolutely shocked that people are justifying using the glitches because they're high up in the leaderboard.
To be honest, I just started typing (and then deleted) four different sentences instead of the one I'm writing right now.. I have to get off my soapbox before I even start, as I like the people here and don't want to offend anyone with my speech about how wrong this is.
I'm guessing none of you batted an eye over the MLB steroid scandal... hey, if they can hit 70 HRs in a season instead of 60, why not, right?
Nope. I don't have a problem with people dumping the bombs (and I propably will do it myself at some point because I hate delivery skill game), but to say that it's the only choice is just bs.Originally Posted by ender3
Berica: These glitches aren't exactly the same as steroids. There's no rules in Trials HD, except for the ones in the game itself. You can do anything you possibly can to get a good score in this game.
But I must say that the Underground glitch sucks. It totally ruins the track and it's not fun trying to do the glitch. I only did it after Lestropie had done it because I didn't want to fall too far behind in the rankings.
Well i was number 6 in the world before people started dumping the bombs, so seeing myself go from 6th to 866th isnt very fun.... at least im still in the top 1000 without dumping them, i guess, but what is the point in even having a leaderboard if people are going to cheat? It ruins it for anyone who plays it legitimately. Im not too fussed about "the 2nd package" but im number 3 for both rings of fire and if someone got ahead of me by cheating id be pretty annoyed! For anyone who thinks its ok: how'd you feel if you had no1 for something and then hundreds of people all start beating you without any of the skill required to pull it off? If you actually put yourself in those shoes, youd be annoyed, wether you admit it or not.
Correct, it wasn't an entirely fair comparison.Originally Posted by pahapertti

But yes, in a couple sentences, I tried comparing a multi-billion dollar industry where people are breaking rules outright to a video game where people are exploiting a glitch, so obviously it's going to have some weaknesses.![]()
Well... I think its worse that to get on top in medium tracks, you have to take routes that are not medium at all. That doesn't make it medium, it makes it a hard track with a medium slow alternate route. Medium tracks are much about flow, so why should a player with less flow on the track get higher on the rankings?
The devs says its because "hard" and "extreme" players should enjoy the medium maps. Well... Its quite possible to enjoy a medium map without these hard and extreme shortcuts. If you ask me, its because the better players should be able to get high in the rankings with less flow and determination than the rest of the players. Not good at all!
Berica: I wouldn't of cheated in any way shape or form if i knew Redlynx was going to patch it somehow. Knowing that there not, i felt the choice too, since everyone above me had done it.
Because when everyone glitched on 'Down The Stairs' i didn't because i knew Redlynx were going to patch it eventually, i was around 15,000 in the leaderboard, but it didn't bother me because i knew it was getting patched.
With Underground and The 2nd Package, this isn't the case.
It has been said before, but if the game somehow allows it, then so be it. If you're competing for top places and the guy ahead of you used the glitch, then you're bound to use it. Plus dropping the bomb is quite tricky, and it takes skill and a bit of luck to achieve it. Just to tease you all: what about an achievement when you succesfully drop the bomb(please don't kill me
)
OTOH, I have seen replays of guys in front of me who had incredible luck on some obstacles so I was frustrated, but then I've had my fair share of luck too and sometimes felt "ashamed" of the score I got because of/thanks to luck.
It's there so why not use it? If you don't want to cheat, then don't. It's all about principles. You know why you have your ranking plain and simple.
