Any advice for an amateur track maker?
I'd like to give this track creation thing a go. How do you lot go about it? Do you map it out in your head or literally down on paper or just make it up as you go along? I've yet to decide what difficulty i'd like to make but just to give myself a break from playing the levels I thought it would be fun to make one instead.
Any advice would be appreciated!

If you want some tutorials, I have created one (3 videos 30 minutes total) shows how to do everything pretty much in the creator.
Tutorial videos playlist
As for me I like to try and create a theme and then I make the level as you go. Sometimes I'll be at work thinking things out and then I'll write them down so I don't forget or draw a pic. It all depends how you are comfortable creatin g
Don't forget, lots of background!

Re: Any advice for an amateur track maker?
My only problem when I tried before was that I couldn't get the hang of the controls and every now and then i'd accidentally move the camera or i'd spend ages making a ramp only to find out that none of the pieces were actually touching or in line!
I've got too much time on my hands in this dull week between xmas and new year so I might as well give it a crack. I just need a theme! Im thinking of any great films or songs or whatever that I can translate into physical objects, hopefully with some loose story based around it. I say all this but it'll be bloody awful when I finally get it done
Thanks for the help!

Tip: Hit the right analog stick button to lock to driving line
Once you get in there start building levels, then you'll get used to the controls. I used to think that it was hard but now after making 10 levels, Im pretty good with all the shortcuts and controls. I just lack a lot of creativity like other track creators

you've made some pretty good ones I think! I had them a while back but I was crap at them. Reckon I could give them a better go now though.

Re: Any advice for an amateur track maker?
right im going for a bit of an ambitious one...
It will be called "For Alia" as its being made solely for the purpose of my girlfriend playing it when stoned. So basically its got to be pretty. I plan to start off with an option; keep going for a medium, trials like experience or drop down for a pitch black, illuminated glass road style beginner type level. At first im just gonna make the bottom bit for aesthetic reasons and then later add in the more difficult route. Wish me luck!
