Greetings all.
I apologize if my post is more a rant/tirade than a cry for help but it is 06:02 in the morning and I'm less than happy at trying all the different "solutions" and not coming up with any gold!
What happened was, about 8 months ago i had to re-install OpenAL32. When i had done this i got
"Trials2.exe - Entry Point Not Found"
'The procedure entry point alcIsExtensionPresent could not be located in the dynamic link library OpenAL32.dll'
I thought this was just bye-the-bye and a "i'll do it later job" but i've finally exhausted all the offered solutions out there.
Here's what i have done
1. Are you running official video drivers? If not, that's the reason. (as posted by Mysterio) - YES & CHECK
2. Did you allow the steam installer to install oalinst.exe to your computer? If you clicked cancel on that one, you can download the OpenAL installer from here: <LINK REMOVED> (as posted by sebbbi) - CHECK
3. Also this file extracted to system32 directory has fixed the problem for some people in different games: <LINK REMOVED> But I highly suggest upgrading your audio drivers first. (as posted by sebbbi) - CHECK
4. Have you tried to uninstall it all? Both the Trials game and the OpenAL? (as posted by 2k3) - CHECK
5. Rename the following files in your system directory C:\Windows\System32: ct_oal.dll -> ct_oal.dll.backup, nvopenal.dll -> nvopenal.dll.backup - CHECK
6. It seems that the OpenAl32.dll is a wrong version, it should be 6.14.357.22 (my version is 6.14.357.23) - CHECK
Before anyone frustrates the situation further, all my Graphics & Sound drivers are all to-date.
Can anyone just provide me a way to by-pass OpenAL32 or provide me a suitable solution? Or will this post be marked "DUPLICATE" like the others before me?
I look forward to a response...
I'm a bit tired at the moment, but here are some things you should try:
- run the game with sounds disabled
- try different sound card drivers (older ones)
You could also try this:
If none of those help, please tell me what hardware and operating system you are using (graphics and sound card are the most important ones)Never mind - I've sorted it now. I had to delete OpenAL32.dll from my System32 folder before installing OpenAL
