That said it's bothering me too to a point with its influence on the ranking system and when it's used to rather pointlessly boost team ranks.
Top Dog is not influenced by this behaviour, in the end you have to beat the ability of a player and it's not important if you pass one or four profiles of him on the way, but it's another thing with Top Score. Luckily I got mine some time ago.
My 4yr old son has a account aswell as my 7yr old nephew........shoot, i dont even matter eyes aints evens in the tops 100s n stuff.
anyway just wanted to point out aswell, that thier is indeed legit reasons to have multiples. that being said, i dont agree with multiples in the top 100 just for vanity sakes.
funny story, i remember maybe 6months ago, i went up 10 spots on the WR list and i hadnt even played for a week. i suspect it was a mass deletion of duplicate top100 accounts

Technically speaking, we cannot know if the same player is using multiple accounts, or if each account is a different player. It's important for us to allow creation of multiple accounts on the same computer using the same game purchase, as many parents are buying the game for their kids, and everyone in the house wants to have a different game account.
Additionally many players have a second copy of the game (Steam special offer with Monster Trucks Nitro for example).
I think this is not a fair/nonfair thing, I think this is more if you have respect for the game and other players or not. I also think for future versions of Trials ON PC there should be a option to put an account into standby mode. The records of that account don't count and only are shown in grey to the other accounts with that key. And that account can be enabled and the ranking will show. And why that might be useful if someone wants to make an new account but beat all the records on the old one account before deleting it or maybe they want to make a fun account and mess around while still having their other account without ruining anyones rank.

Ok, this post went off a bit, However I have access to FastStoner again.
My laptop broke which had the Sloss account, so now I've lost Sloss. *shrugs* - I still have access at home, however 99% of playtime occurs at work.
I see everyone's point with the whole "I lost my license, can you delete my double profile, Pebe".
But in this case, everyone knew that FastStoner was Sloss, and Redlynx knew it also. However, in Redlynx defence, they asked me what email was registered and what were one of the profiles on the account. FastStoner was created on my friend email, which i forgot, nor would I have access to receive the license key. Hence, refusing my request.
Anyway, the only account in top 'xx' score, is Sloss.
