I've been thinking of different ways to finish brown boxes and I think there may be a faster possible way then lestropie. I've been trying to perfect my strategy but it's quite different then anything I've seen on the leaderboards. Starting off with the first part you jump over regularly with enough momentum to head to the first big ramp so you can just go straight over the first big ramp (with a flip); speed up and then bunny hop from the second platform after you come down onto the higher one (before the 1 middle platform you have to jump across). Then jump up the next 2 boxes fast then at the 3 middle boards that are at an angle you hop over bouncing on your back wheel over all 3 of them then for the explosive you jump straight down to right before the angled box (you don't hit any wheels on the vertical platform like everyone does) and you will have enough momentum to go straight over the box and land perfectly before the two big vertical platforms at the end, from there do those properly and I'm sure you would hit 32 or 33 seconds (lestropie was 34 I believe)? Any questions if I didn't make sense, but I'm not able to get each segment all at the same time but I can do them individually perfect.
If one of the more skilled players understands what I'm talking/how to do it please try it. I'm sure there is a faster way than the current #1!
Edit:
I will look at track before I post.

Well, there propably is a way to beat Lestropie in most tracks. At least in Inferno II there's couple of techniques he hasn't used yet.
I re-read it over and it does make sense. I could make a video of each individual segment because I'm unable to be consistent enough to do all of it at the same time to show you what I mean because maybe I explained it poorly.Originally Posted by Lestropie

OK, I rebooted, it's fine.
I just went on this great long rant about how it couldn't be done, then thought "Hmmm, think I might have a look" and pulled it off.
It might have made more sense if you only described the two parts which are different to the current run:
* After the first (?) checkpoint, rather than riding slowly up the ramp to stop at the top then dropping down slowly, if you get the right approach you can pretty much clear the flat platform up top where you would normally stop for the dropoff, and fall straight down. Front flipping it usually helps, but you won't make it unless you get the gap before it correct (if you ram your front wheel into the ramp on the way up, you wipe off your forward momentum and still land on top of the platform as before). I already knew about this one, sorry.
* The famous undercut box ('undercut' == steeper than vertical); At first I thought you were talking about carrying more forward momentum by doing the drop differently, which is why I initially thought it wouldn't work. What you actually want to do is: Instead of doing a quarter-backflip into the overhanging obstacle, which gets you down the drop but forces you backwards (hence having to re-accelerate and losing time), instead you carry a small amount of speed towards the dropoff, perform a small wheelie and loop yourself over the top of the explosive box. You have to get the speed and the jump perfect so that you miss both the explosive and the overhanging obstacle. It's not carrying momentum so much as that you land pretty much at the base of the ramp which leads up to the undercut box, so you can get some nice suspension bounce out of it.
I didn't try for too long but managed to be 0.7s under the current time at the final checkpoint before I fudged it. Someone else might have better fortune.
Good luck
Lestropie
Dude, wtf...just how can you get a flawless badass fast as hell run whenever you want too?
It's just...not right![]()
Alright so, I have been trying to get a video of me doing each segment perfectly the way I described (sorry my explanation was terrible) and I should have it done tomorrow. Obviously there may be like 1 second inbetween each that is missing I'm not good enough to do them at the same time.
Here is the first segment:
(EDIT) - Apparently youtube is not working on my computer so I uploaded it on tinypic.
Brown Boxes - Segment 1
-
I'll upload the next ones soon but hopefully lestropie can upgrade his time or someone else can perfect it... I also have some really good ideas for other runs which I think could be faster. Especially Jolly Jumper, I will get #1 if I am able to my strategy perfectly for all of it (involves a lot pre-loading and spring jumping haha). I also think I can get tired hill with a new #1have a strategy that goes UNDER at the last part with a spring bounce off the back wheel which flings you all the way up to the end platform... currently have #118 because I messed up the first parts).
Regarding the jump over the explosive then bouncing over the "Undercut Box"? - I assure you this is possible, i have done it before by just missing the explosive (no flip involved) landing with your front wheel pulling back quickly and heading straight over the box on your back wheel... I'll upload a video when I get there and do it perfectly again.
