I recently got a new monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a higher resolution (1920x1080). My old monitor had a 16:10 aspect ratio with a native res of 1680x1050 (which I now use at my second monitor).
When I launch the game from steam, I try to change the resolution to either 1920x1080 or try to run in windowed mode with a smaller resolution like 1280x1024 in the launch menu, but it doesn't apply.. It will still launch in full screen mode and running at 1680x1050, which looks off.
I've tried googling this problem, reinstalling the game, disabling the 2nd monitor, but to no avail. Is there a way to change the resolution and/or run in windowed mode?
I believe you have a compatibility problem between your graphics card and your new monitor. Make sure you have the latest driver and install it correctly and safely after making sure any card/driver old files are completely gone. Also make sure the resolutions you are trying to set are supported by your monitor

It can't be a compatibility problem because I can run every other game I own (except for maybe the older ones that don't support widescreen) on this monitor at 1920x1080.
hmmm...you cant set it to any other resolution that fits? I hope a DEV helps you with this. If I come up with anything Ill PM you.
