What do you think, wouldn't independent front and rear brake controls make sense in this game? How about a clutch? Might be a little more complicated but I'd think it would you give you more control over the bike. I have a hard time keeping the rear tire in contact with the surface mostly because controlling the rider's posture is so sensitive. He moves so violently and that bike can't weigh more than 20 lbs. Lean forward at the wrong instant on a steep uphill and the rear tire completely raises off the surface. I know it'll take practice but the physics just aren't very intuitive(IMO). I really do dig the game as it is though, just have to stick with it (frustrated because I just hit the 30 minute time limit on Goin' Up!). BTW, I like the replay feature on the leaderboard and am amazed at how good people are at this game.
What? you don't like how sensitive the rider is so you want to add another brake and a friggin clutch to the gamepad?Originally Posted by TriskitheadThats ridiculous. You should try playing a lot more and get more used to the physics. Those extra things are very unnecessary.
I agree, it would make the control scheme way more complicated. I'm just throwing it out there for discussion. Part of what sold me on this game in the first place is how simple it was to play (although very difficult to master). But think about this... if you take away your rear brake and clutch on a real trials bike, now that would be difficult to ride.
well yeah...thats like saying take away the handlebars and the seat, now that would be difficult to ride...so? The difficulty should be in the level design NOT the control.Originally Posted by Triskithead
I was amazed how good people were on the leader board at first too, but after playing for a while (keep in mind I am still no expert) I started to get a feel for it. It's so deceptively simple at first, but with the complexity of the physics and object collision you need so much practice to get better - a sign of great gameplay.Originally Posted by Triskithead
Adding extra controls probably wouldn't help so much, infact it would probably be the opposite. My advice is really watch the balance of the rider and then get used to feathering the accelerator and brake.
An optional clutch would be cool but two brakes would make it too complex.
optional clutch...optional sunroof...the game doesnt need it. IMHO![]()
Just one brake would be nice, rather then left trigger making you can in reverse. Should be single tap left trigger for brake and double tap for reverse.. no need for a clutch.
We wanted to keep game simple. Yep the clutch and different braking would maybe help the most advenced players. BUT when you would see forexample lestropie riding.. you would think that: "ok he masters the clutch and multiple brakes" Now you think. Ok he just freaking good and i CAN do that.
And with simple controls everyone can pick up and play instant. I really dont like games that show 345 different buttons and controls scemes when loading screen appears.
