Digital Foundry / Eurogamer technical interview

Digital Foundry has done a Trials HD technical interview for Eurogamer. In the interview, I have answered various technical questions about the game and the technology behind it. It's a nice read for all the tech heads out there.

Digital Foundry: Will the shareable ghost replays ever make it to the Xbox 360 game?

Sebastian Aaltonen: Yes, it's possible that we could have robust ghost racing features in the future Trials games. The same data we use to save top 5000 replays of each track can be seamlessly used for ghost racing. There is no technical limitation present.

    YAY!

Digital Foundry: What next for RedLynx? Any DLC plans for Trials HD or is it straight onto the new game?

Sebastian Aaltonen:.......We know from the past experience with Trials 2 that the hardcore fans will need their daily dose of new tracks on a regular basis. And we will surely deliver our fans exactly that!

    YAY!

tis a good read for sure.

reading part of it reminded me of a suggestion I had for DLC actually.

the comments on the different camera options that you had, that noone in the office used.
What about implimenting them JUST for the replay features?
watching someones awesome replay from the more "cinematic" camera modes would be pretty awesome. the first person mode would be wicked to watch some of the skill games from, or over the shoulder cam.

or watching a #1 race replay from a cinematic checkpoint flyby cam would add a new dimension to watching the replays.

    Just a thought.

Just a note, I DO like that there is only 1 camera for when playing the game though. keeps it consistent for competition.

i agree with the camera. in the previous trials we had many cameras to choose from. i think the replay camera would be nice, i always watched replays in the previous trials in headlight or 3rd person, gives it a new feel

Re: Digital Foundry / Eurogamer technical interview

yeah I dont see how it could be a problem to have the old alternate cameras in replays i mean it would take more storage or anything just realtime switching. but hey im not a tech or a dev so i could be wrong
