I honestly believe it should stay the way it is. It's obvious that it's doable since obscenepenguin and Lestropie have both done it. I am currently 41 in the world with 9 faults in it, and before you make a comment about that, I know that isn't something to brag about. The easier tracks are quite pointless but I see them as intermission, when I've just 0 faulted a hard track, I like the comfort in knowing that my sweaty palms won't be a factor in the next couple of tracks. Say what you will, but the achievement should stay the way it is.
I don't consider gamers who play for achievements hardcore. Most of the time they have to get the game out of the way as soon as possible so they get mates to help them boost online achievements or they use guides to find secret items quickly in the single player campaigns so they can move on to the next retail game. Usually something like King Kong or Disney's Cars....Far from hardcore.Originally Posted by Nightwolf
The point is the achievement, while very hard, IS do-able but the "Achievement Raiders" have NO concept that just because every point can't be unlocked quickly doesn't mean you can't do it. IMHO this achievement should be THE HOLY GRAIL that only the best of the best completionist/raiders, as well as Trials Pros, have and they should make it a point to work hard to get it. It might not happen soon for them but it CAN happen and they shouldn't refuse to play/buy just because it takes time and effort.
I was thinking about this the other day.. since I can't 100% let alone even complete any of the expert songs in Rock Band/ Guitar Hero games, which I've played a lot longer then Trails.. should I start going on their forums and crying about how hard it is to get all the achievements in those games?
looool there are a lot of people here didnt tried to get the Marathon achievment .. and they are talking like they are pros and they understand that is shouldnt be fixed .. funny guys
If anyone of you guys tried to get this achievment since the release of the game and they didnt have it yet .. then we can talk
Anyway im still Waiting for the update to FIX this achievment .. i wish the Developers will tell us when the UPDATE is coming because we (( hardcore gamers who wants to get the marathon achievment )) hate waiting![]()
The achievement system over Live is a load of wank, and buying games just for the achievements is plain crazy. I had an experience with the Halo achievements where it actually took 800 points away. Don't let Crimosoft incentives dictate the way you play games - specially when the games are as good as Trial HD.
I have no idea if the M-achievement is do-able or not, but the achievements given in this game have been pretty fun, so I have tried to actually do them. Can't say that about most games. If the achievement is a challenge, and it's fun to do (almost like a game goal) then I'm all for it, but I'll never be one to worry if I can't.
The change you propose would basically kill the "Ultimate Endurance" tournament idea. The key idea behind that tournament is that it is the longest tournament in the game. Both the tournament and the achievement name are also promoting this idea. However the Ultimate Endurance tournament was never intended to be as hard as it is currently.Originally Posted by saudipro
Haven't you checked the "World Championship" tournament track list? You are basically describing that tournament exactly: 10 tracks, all the hardest hard tracks + some technical medium fillers. There are actually only two players who have passed "World Championship" tournament with zero faults. And there are five players who have passed the "Ultimate Endurance" tournament with zero faults. I am not that sure it would be good enough to change the Marathon achievement to affect "World Championship" instead of "Ultimate Endurance" tournament. It would not make the achievement that much easier to get.
We have already stated that there is a fix coming up. The fix will both make the game better and make this achievement easier to get (less frustrating).Originally Posted by saudipro
I really wish you wouldn't go through with the fix because the achievement is possible and the proof is in the pudding. The people who really have a strong problem with it should either not rush as much or learn to hide their anguish. If you give in to the minority by changing this, you're only giving them more leverage to demand the next fix.Originally Posted by sebbbi
It's not only that, the whole team agrees that the change we made to the game makes it better. It's not just about the achievement. We know that five players (of 350 000) have got the achievement. Lets be real here: There are plenty of places in the tournament that are prone to random faults. The drop downs and big jumps in several levels sometimes just break the bike (sometimes with no apparent reason), and it's very hard to constantly make those sections without a single random fault. Basically the current tournament needs both really really good skills (to constantly pass faultlessly all the hard tracks in a row) and countless of repeated tries (to combat the random faults) if you like to zero pass it. We have no problem with the achievement requiring lots of skills, but the random faults and countless retrys are not something most players find "fun".Originally Posted by ink3i
The players who are both skilled enough and have enough time to retry the tournament hundreds of times are a really really small minority. Currently 0.0014 percent of of the players have the achievement (one in 70 000 players). It's almost like we have only 11 achievements in the game. The longevity of this game comes from the leaderboards: beating all your friends, reaching #1 in track leaderboards and rising up your global rating. I don't think we need an ultra hard achievement to make the game artifically harder to pass.
I do agree that random faults occur but that is what makes the achievement unique and potentially an achievement that once obtained would be the crown jewel of all achievements. Also, it would be a huge slap in the face to the people who have already gotten the achievement the way it was meant to be gotten. After the update/fix or whatever you want to call it, loads of people are bound to get the achievement and to the original 'obtainers' of the achievement, its value, whether it be sentimental or physical, will be diminished.Originally Posted by sebbbi
