It seems like it should be simple. I've read the tutorials on this site, but obviously i'm making a stupid mistake.
Place the trigger where i want it.
Pick an object to trigger and place it.
Select trigger properties and choose what to trigger (physics/damage/lights) and then select the object
Then when i go to test mode, and drive through the trigger nothing happens. What am i doing wrong??????
Be more specific, that doesn't help us at all with helping you with your problem. Make sure there are no dynamic objects that are able to touch or touching the trigger. Make sure what you've selected is possible for the object you're triggering. For example a Wide Plank - Short cannot Explode/Break, while a Thin Plank - Short can. And lastly, make sure your character is actually hitting the trigger, make sure the trigger is on the driver's line and that it is low/high enough for the driver to touch it.
also, make sure that the item you are triggering has physics off![]()
Ok, I've tried all different combinations of using the trigger (placement, event, object)
It's definitely in my driving line and isn't near anything.
The way i usually do it is place my trigger and then place whatever i want to trigger on the course. Then i go back to the trigger and turn on the event, and then select the object to trigger.
I have tried leaving the physics off on the target object and turning them on. I have tried making the trigger close to the object or further away.
The only thing i can think of is that i'm doing this all in advanced mode.
What object are you trying to trigger, and what would you like it do do?
anything lol..i've tried a bunch of things from a metal ball rolling down a ramp to a box falling out of the air onto a plank. It should be simple, that's what's baffling me about this whole thingOriginally Posted by KuangEleven
Sanity checklist:
1. Make a barrel a few feet off the floor and not touching anything else, but visible from the driver start point. Do NOT turn on physics.
2. Make a trigger a few feet in front of the driver start point, making sure it's on the driving line (click the right stick), raised a tad above the floor, and not touching anything else.
3. Select the trigger, and check the "physics" box.
4. Click on "select objects," and then click on the barrel, which should highlight.
5. Check to make sure there is a straight white line between the trigger and barrel.
6. Test the track.
7. Sit at the start for a moment and look at the barrel. It should be hovering in mid-air.
8. Inch forward with the bike until you are sure you are through the trigger point. At this point, the barrel should fall to the floor.
Fingers crossed!
lol...i'll try again after work but i'm pretty sure i've tried this like 20 times. Like i said before, the only things i can think of are that i enabled physics on the other object for some reason or i'm in advanced mode (which shouldn't matter)Originally Posted by Skysaw
It HAS to be physics enabled on the other thing though...that's all it could be even though i thought for certain i left it off :dunno:
It doesn't matter whether you're in advanced mode or not (just to scratch that off your mental list).
ok...so when i try this again later and i make sure physics is off on the object in question and it still doesn't work i'll more than likely snap a controller in halfOriginally Posted by Skysaw

If i make sure physics is off and it does work at first i'll be mortified and then be really happy lol
