Everyone loves to tackle a challenge on their bikes, but I thought it would be fun to pose some challenges to the level editors here. So the question for you is: Can you build it?
Here are a few challenges I thought up. Your name in lights for the first and/or most elegant builds to feature any of the below challenges. If anyone has any more ideas for challenges to include, let me know, and I'll keep the list updated. If not, well maybe this thread will die a nice quiet death...
Can You Build It?
1. A catapult that launches any explosive long-distance without the explosive going off until it lands.
2. A catching device that will catch a falling (or launched?) explosive, without it going off when caught.
3. Combination of the two above for extra credit
4. A working Ferris wheel that will take the rider fully around a circle on its own power Winner: katamariUK (Track = "Carnival")
5. A converyor belt suitable for carrying your rider forward or backward
Disclaimer: I don't know how many of these (if any) are actually possible.
nice idea! All shold be actually doable.
Shall we arrange official competition around this theme. what people think? Flags and hoodies for winners and videos to youtube.

I've built a ferris wheel out of rail tracks powered by a ratchet and pawl type system that uses a flipper for power, but I'm having a hell of a time with the elasticity of glued joints. The wheel itself is solid enough, but it's tough to get it to rotate smoothly around a central axis without bouncing. I too would be interested in knowing how the 'hamster wheel' in the single player mode runs so smoothly
Oh, hello btw - just signed up![]()
Got a nice catapult going. Sent a box of dynamite about 15 squares.
Unfortunately I don't have any video capture equip so I will just have to describe it. Hopefully this makes sense.
I used a big I beam standing straight up in the middle. Glued that to one side of a free rotation hinge in a vertical position. Then took three I beams, glued them together in a row and they sit horizontal. Glue that to the other side of the free rotation hinge. At the left end of the long horizontal I-beam section, I glued a smaller I-Beam that hangs straight down from the bottom edge of the long I-Beam. At the bottom of the smaller I-Beam, I glued the right edge of a large wood ramp and it sits horizontal. At the left end of the wood ramp I put a dynamite box.
Now on the far right side of the three glued I-Beams, I glued 3 concrete blocks to the I-Beams. But I didn't leave them right next to the I-Beam. Instead I moved them way up and out on the same line as the long I-beam. Obviously you need to clear alot of floor space so the concrete blocks can swing down.
Updated to reflect KatamariUK's brilliant ferris wheel in the track "Carnival!"
I was messing around with your first two ideas and I have a working bomb launcher. It's actually pretty slick. I built it catapult style which surprisingly is able to launch an explosive barrel across the map a long waysactually had to decrease the height and distance so the rider can see the barrel launch). So once I had that done I though about catching a barrel. I made another catapult that catches the barrel plus launches it again. Note though, that the physics really make it hard to relaunch the barrel because the physics are inconsistent.
I also tooled around with launching an explosive barrel and setting up a halfpipe ramp which rolls onto and launches again.
Check it out if your interested I'll add you as a friend: Gamertag smokin411
The track that launches and catches the barrel is Bomb Catcher, and the other track with the big catapult is Bomb-A-Pult.
EDIT: I removed the tracks from my share list because they were taking up 2 of the 7 slots that I can better use.
Idea equals epic. I'll have to try the conveyor since nobody else has seem to look into it. But, no lie, I'm working on a track called Waterwork and it has this one trick. Which involves a lot of force so you can sometimes die on impact or land on this object sticking out at an angle on your front tire killing you. Sometimes the bike explodes and the body is stretched out (Glitch). One time the bike got knocked awkwardly somehow and ended up turning around (Driving the wrong way). I ended up falling over when I reached the bottom so I didn't really get to test it but I wonder if there is something to get this to happen constantly.
hmm, cool ideas. The catapults I know nothing about. But for the conveyor belt, you could try making a super sized tank tread using henges and the like and have flippers powering it. Not sure if it would work, but if it did then you could put it vertical and have an elevator to use![]()
i have just built a canapult that launches open explosive barrels a short distance using a long beam, short wide log, and a rock to activate the canapult![]()
