    PANdaRUS Tracks

    Hey all,

Just wanted to share a map I created that's been pretty popular so far. It's called PAN-Zentastic.

Another gamer on LIVE (Bubba Jim, thanks so much!) was nice enough to post a youtube video of himself playing on it...so you can check it out here:

Let me know what you think. I've got a few other maps as well:

    PAN-Drastic (delivery map)

    PAN is Michael Bay

and a new one I just put out yesterday called:

    PAN-Return 2 Heaven

I'll let those that play it see how the title applies lol

Any feed back is also greatly appreciated. This level editor is a great deal of fun so I enjoy making maps.

Some imaginative things, but I think this track may be suffering from "too much stuff syndrome."

    Re: PANdaRUS Tracks: Zentastic

LOL, yeah it does slow down some in the beginning. This was the second or third map I had made and I was still learning alot from the limits of the editor (soon after discovered the "Your map will not be saved because you have too many objects" message! aka "too much schtuff" syndrome lol).

I'm actually working on a thumbed down version behind the scenes of this map. I'm removing portions that won't necessarily affect the "look" but will help to speed up the framerate at the beginning.

Very trial and error at this point, but this has got to be the most fun I've had in a game editor in some time (and I'll even say it's been more fun so far than the Halo 3 editor, and I actually enjoyed that back in the day, lol!)

Everyone that has played this one so far seems to dig the slow down in the beginning for some reason though lol. They claim it feels matrix-like then jumps into full speed at just the right moment.

Thanks for the feedback though...keep it coming!

    Hey Kelleman,

I put up a newer version 1.5 of the Zentastic Map. It's still a little laggy in areas with detail but should run a little faster now. Still going to keep plugging away at getting it optimized though.

There's a new map up also called "Lumber Jack". Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Oh, I thought the zentastic map was supposed to be laggy like that. lol
I figured you added zentastic to it because it was like you were always in a state of zen and everything was slowed down. Besides, it gives you more time to admire the background =)

Either way, it's a cool map

Well yes and no (mostly no hahaha) but yes it was because everything was supposed to be sorta meditative in the beginning, but it was hard to get the effect as intended given it was really lag that occurred in the beginning lol.

It was strange though because on my machine - it ran well through all the preview tests etc. But once I rendered it out and got it saved for sharing - it was laggy and the initial rocks with the water suffered the most. In the newer version (1.5) I managed to get the rocks to continue to have water pouring over them in the beginning. I also got a few other areas to speed up a bit without losing too much detail. If you play them back to back you can see the differences if you pay close attention.

The newest map I am working on is going to be based around a lot more speed.

Nice work on the designs for your tracks. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing an inordinate amount of ordinance in them...Hope to see some more tweaks to bring up the speed.

I tried both versions of Zentastic. Did you add the fire on the spiked "bridge" in the new version? I don't remember seeing it in the laggy version. If so, I preferred it without.

Not a fan of the hanging stairs that knock you off the bike (where the camera changes to over the shoulder angle). I am really close to platinum, but I think having to go slow to avoid hitting this is holding me back.

    Re: PANdaRUS Tracks

I put up some new maps over the weekend. Let me know what you guys think if you've tried them.

The best part? 100% lag free from what I can tell, lol. But feedback is appreciated if you have some.

    Zero: Multiple routes.

Flux, Reflux, and Reflux (Acid): One map, short and sweet, with three sections that break it up into the several difficulities depending on the one you pick. If you race Flux, the experience will be different from Reflux, or Reflux (Acid), etc. One version of the map has an alternate ending...it's included in all three so you'll know it's there, but you will only be able to access it on one of the versions. I left a clue to point it out. But it shouldn't be hard to locate.

PlayingMantis: Thanks for the feedback - the fire was there in the laggy version. Although it probably didn't command that much attention given the lag, but it was there. I will probably be revisiting that one with some changes in the future and I may change up that ending. Right now though I'm maxed out at the 7/7 sharing limit so I've gotta pick and choose the ones I share lol.

Let me know what you think of the new maps! I appreciate it.

I may be taking some time with the next one. I'm looking to get as much detail in with as many thrills as I can with no lag. *fingers crossed*
