Hey, another level editor here, I'm still making my first few tracks but I'm putting a lot of work into them.
GT: Zaarock
Current projects:
3. Midtech 0.9 (final testing, object limit maxed)
Technical track, meant to be fun to time trial.
difficulty: hard
Finished tracks:
2. Insidious
Not your ordinary track. The track works against you: speed is the key to survival, but watch your back. Lots of physics based obstacles.
difficulty: hard
best times:
1. Night trial
A medium length trip over rooftops, through the streets and a finale in the caves. Be prepared for some surprises. My first track, but it's been worked on for some time.
difficulty: hard
best times:
Notes:
If you send me a friend request to check out the levels, please send a message stating its for the levels and then a message when youve downloaded! my friends list is at 99/98, I'll keep one slot empty for people checking the tracks.
I've just done your track and i love it. The most challenging edited track i've played so far.
You asked for comments, i must say i don't like the camera angle for the first part of the track, i cannot see the bike's wheels.
Flame ball chase part is a very good idea and tricky, but maybe the track on this part can be a little different. It does work as it is though.
I would love to have a skilled game based on this idea IMO.
For the part with the move pole and the bing climb on metal platform, what was your first idea here ? I don't see the usefullness of the ball in the bottomm as you can just stick your wheels to the metal platform and climb this way. Was i design to be climb in one ride ? I mean by this let the pole incline, throttle and clim the metal platform this way ?
Last part is perfect, nice tech run, scary bomb and good throttle needed, i love it.
Overall it is a well designed track gameplay whise. Keep up !
Yeah, I sort of screwed that part up, it used to be too hard to get up when the fence wall was at a sharper angle. Now the see-saw is mainly useful for going past the part fast. It's rather counter intuitive though as its practically useless unless you push it back only slightly.Originally Posted by SHwoKing
About the camera angle at the start, a few of the people who were testing the track requested there to be a downwards view at the start, I sort of find it annoying myself though it looks pretty nice. I'll see if I can add an extra camera in the middle of the fall that has a view more from the side, though that first area already has like 5 cameras.
On another note, I've got the base idea ready for my next track, hopefully it will be original and exciting to play
also, I might make another "boulder chase" thing as my third track, making a full-length track on that idea will be challenging.
My second track, Insidious, is progressing well. I'll try and make it polished so it will take a long time to make. I'll keep uploading the new versions as I progress.
Nice tracks, and coming along very well. You are obviously getting to grips with the Editor very quickly! There's some great obstacles in Night Trial. Especially like the metal ball chase and the last one - bit claustrophobic squeezing in under that low ceiling though!
Can't wait to try a finished version of Insidious. Tell me, is it actually possible in the 0.4 version of Insidious to get across that bouncing bridge? It's either not possible or I'm doing something fundamentally wrong as I must have tried atleast 300 times and I'm not even close to getting over it. You might have to give me a clue as to how it's done ...
Look forward to seeing the finished courses (and more tracks besides) in due time...

[Edit: Forgot to mention, 6:06 mins for Night Trial and 24 faults. Don't think I hold the record do I, hah!]
Haha, it actually used to be harder before.. then a few people got stuck on it and I made it easier as its not supposed to be that difficult. Once you've jumped to the middle of the bridge by pushing forward and going full throttle, wheelie across the rest of the bridge and you should easily get a grip of the remaining platform. the current version has a lot more stuff after that so I'd recommend trying it againOriginally Posted by L0RDMelchett
btw, I'll continue working on the track in a day or two, going to 100% shadow complex on hard first, its a nice game.
It's easy when you know how, isn't it?! I did it on probably my 20th attempt after your helpful tips. And you're right, the rest of the track's fantastic too. Lots of stuff going on and very playable. Loved it all but especially the ball chase, good camera work there - damn boxes at the end kept catching me out but I managed it with a bit of perserverence. Great course, look forward to seeing your next creation in due time.

I'd like it very much if you would add me, and if you like insane challenges, you might like my track too

I'm glad the cameras ended up working great at the tunnel, making the tunnel and cameras was a pain in the *** and I had to make loads of cameras and modify the positions a lot of times (a large part of these were because the boulder or player would hit themOriginally Posted by L0RDMelchett) oh yeah and that stone bridge at the end took a while to make, I wonder why I even decided to make that.
I'm working on the track again, though having a bit of a bad start, trying out weird ideas even though I shouldn't have weird physics parts so frequently on the track.
Any comments on the last part of 0.4 where you have to blow up the blocked doorway with dynamite? Should I remove that part to allow for more fun time trialing or make it easier, etc.
Just re-tried both your courses since you worked on them some more. Re: your concern on the dynamite, I quite like this obstacle. But then, I get more satisfaction from a completing a course with difficult or puzzling obstacles in than I do from knocking a couple of seconds off my time on a fast course.Originally Posted by Zaarock
To be completely truthful, your courses aren't the prettiest or most atmospheric but I think they contain the best set of obstacles of any user created courses I've tried, and I've tried quite a few. You also make superb use of the physics controls, atleast as good as any in the game itself. Camera work is also spot on. I think only Kellemann has shown such good use of the camera angles. Have you tried his Insanety V2.0. Fantastic and completely disorientating!
