Only share user levels with friends - technology related?

Trials HD could have some long legs, but with the lack of public trading of levels, there's really no reason to continue playing after your friends stop making levels.

I'm the kind of player that isn't going to sit down and create levels, but instead download TONS of them for months to come. Since only a few of my friends bought the game, and they are the same as me (not content creators), that really limits the life of the game.

Is there a technological reason that this decision was made? With all the hype in the trailers surrounding user content, this is a HUGE kick in the pants to the people that buy the game expecting a limitless amount of user content.

I'm assuming it has something to do with the the database that would drive it, along with data on ratings, etc, which isn't built into the game by default.

Any thoughts on this? Any thoughts on a PATCH for this? I purchased the game with the intention of playing it for the next year or longer. After 2 days I'm making headway, I won't have a reason to touch it after a few weeks, which is disappointing because IT ROCKS!!

I've signed up today to find out the answer the this question.

What a bummer to find out you cannot access all the advertised user created tracks.

Please tell me there's planes to open up the levels to everyone?

Luckily for you, many people in this forum are content creators. If you go to the section where people advertise their tracks, you will find plenty of people sharing their XBL gamertag. First send them a friend request, wait for approval, then "Get" tracks in the user content.

... and now the pain from getting that HUGE kick in the pants is starting to fade. The user content is limitless, and I bet you that over a year from now people will still be making tracks.
    Good Luck,

BathTubSailor, those are actually really good points. The fact that it isn't EASY to stay updated and have a large repository of creations is too bad - since only few will sign up on this board. HOWEVER, the people on this board are definitely ones that will keep content coming.

    Thanks!

I too would really like to know what the limitation is. Servers or bandwidth or limitation with the code?

We do not have our own servers at all. That's the limitation.

    I have to agree.
It would be amazing if there would be a "custom track pool" (next update maybe) where you can download all the advertised user created tracks you want.
It's pretty annoing to add people and even more people that you can play their tracks.
Global usermap sharing would be really cool!!

It would be really amazing if this problem could be solved. Besides this little "lack" Trials HD is the best Xbox Arcade game ever!

    Thx for making it!!

    Cheers

I think peer based server, something like torrent's would be the way to go, prehaps just limited to the creator to publish, then a publiclist availble to everybody online, then you'd download directly from the host, but that does still have quite a few limitation :/
