Hi,
I just bought my Xbox yesterday, and Trials HD, being the true fan that I am.
After playing some random shoot'em'up game for a few hours, it was time to get Trials HD.
I downladed and installed it, only to find that it only runs in 60Hz mode.
So i changed my settings, and i don't think my TV likes it. the bottom 1/4 of the screen is black with little white (almost static) lines through it.
Is there a way I can force this game to run in 50Hz as the other games ran in 50Hz just fine.
I fear I will require a new TV Which means that the initial process of buying the XBox (just for trials), is going to become an extremely expensive task of mine.![]()
Please help me guys!
There is no way to force the game to run at 50Hz as the game is V-synched to 60 fps. The game logic, physics and graphics all are locked to that 60 fps and each of the components needs to run at the same speed. Forcing the game to run at lower fps would slow the whole game down (which we don't want). As pal-60 is supported by all new TVs and huge majority of all the TVs in circulation, and with the synch problems with pal-50, we decided to only support pal-60.
I have encountered many games that require 60Hz TV to run. Most of the fighting games seem to require 60Hz TV because they are so timing sensitive. All LCD panels and CRT HDTVs support 60Hz, and all old NTSC TVs support it also, and most PAL TVs also support it (PAL60). According to some marketing research, less than 0.01% of TVs currently used do not support 60Hz (have only PAL50 support).Originally Posted by slossage
Could you give us technical details of the TV set you have, so we can search the internet to see if your model is one of these really old ones without 60Hz support, or if there's just something else wrong in your TV setup. Do you have multiple SCART inputs in the back of your TV? Some older TVs have better input at SCART 1 connector. Try to connect the Xbox to it instead of SCART 2 if you have it there.
Thank you for your prompt replies
I will have to check the technical specifications of the TV at home, it is JVC, i know that much, it's also a CRT.
Fairly large display, and alot of features, so i would assume it's a setting I have to change.
I will post the technical spec when i get home, or better yet, research myself if it supports PAL (60Hz).
One bit of information that might help assist though, i currently have my XBox360 hooked up to my LG DVD-Recorder (it has AV1 and AV2). which then connects into a cheap video selector (so i can have up to 3 devices connected at once). which then connects to my TV.
now i mention this, would you assume it's quite possible that the "cheap video selector" is in fact my problem? opr maybe the fact i'm porting through the DVD-Player... hmm, will report back tonight.
Thanks!
Got it working by plugging directly into TV.
Sorry to bother you with it!
