First time poster, question about Top Score.

Hello guys! I have been privately enjoying T2 between moments of blistering agony (My first completion of Steel and Concrete had 600+ faults....), and I am realizing I am getting pretty damn good at it. My favorite tracks, as you can tell by my records, are the flip tracks.

That being said, I am trying to find out if it's even FEASABLE for me to try for the "Top Score" achievement. Does it cound weekly/country records, or just overall? If it's the later, I am just going to put a piece of black tape over that part of my screen where the achievement is so I can forget it exists, lol. Thanks.

    patience, young one

you've only played 59 hours. Not many can unlock top score not to mention top dog after that relatively short playtime. And it's not getting easier; T2SE has been out for more than a year and you got some crazy people with far more playtime than you, so it's an uneven battle.

Playtime, experience, means a lot in this game. When I was new, Jorma once said in chat "this game almost seems to look at your playtime, and decide to make you better after certain intervals" and that's pretty true. Slowly, without you noticing much of a change, you'll get better and better and maybe some day you can get that top score achievement. good luck.

edit: btw it only counts global all time scores, not weekly or by country.

*Only* 59 hours?!?! Lol, not a bad deal for $2.50 Xmas sale on Steam....that's...5 cents an hour I think?!?!

Hearing you say "only" scares me, lol. Black tape it is!

That being said, I think what Jorma said is true. I have gotten to the point now that many techniques in the game are basiclaly hardwired into my brain to the point that I often play Trials 2 (And freakishly sometimes set new records) while talking on the phone!

I like the game, but I am due for a break..my soul can't handle Inferno, YSNP or Diablo yet (The only 3 I have yet to complete).

I actually ALMOST got up past the first hill in Inferno, and I made a strategic retreat for my sanity's sake!

    59 hours is nothing

But before you can think of top5 scores, you have to master those three hard tracks, Inferno, YSNP and Diablo. Infact you should probably pass them all with 0 faults before you have a chance on a top5, unless you happen to pull a freaky luck run somewhere on a short track. That's just how the game is nowadays. Weird things happen and there are a few one-hit wonders, but not too many.

If you think you've hit your roof in terms of skill now at 59 hours, just play 50 hours more and you'll tell yourself, "wow, if someone had told me my stats page would look like this 50 hours ago, I wouldn't have believed it". Then 50 hours more.. then 50 more.. etc. The learning curve in this game is long and hard, believe me..

I think my best chance for top 5 are the flip tracks. I have really good records on those.

Whoa. Jorma was SO right. If anyone get's the chance, have a look at my weekly for "The Shortcut". I ranked 106th. I just palyed it, first try, and the run felt like SILK most of the time. I actually felt like it was easy...especially compared to some of my past runs on it...the ones with 227 faults!

Wow, I think I am starting to "get it".

I totally agree with Jormas comment. In my playtime i can make good time in my mind after 20 runs and then comes Sebbbi or Jorma and take improve it easily with one try.
