    Compatable gaming

Just wondering, after playing trials hd, whats it like to come back and play trials 2?

Just because i'll be playing the new one, doesn't mean I am going to abandon trials2, and thought, 'how'? Watching the trailer many times in awe, the bike and game play seems a lot quicker than in trials2 and wondered if its gonna have any major impact or if your having it?

    Re: Compatable gaming

After playing Trials HD for around half a year I can say the following:
    - Trials 2 does not run smoothly on normal graphics mode (even on a high end graphics card). The frame length is very uneven causing a small stuttering all the time. Trials HD is really smooth compared to Trials HD. This is the most annoying thing in Trials 2 (if you are playing on normal graphics mode after long Trials HD sessions). It's strange how I didn't even notice this before, but after Trials HD it is really distracting.
    - Trials 2 bike suspension is more elastic and arcade like. The wheels are very loose when the bike is spinning.
    - Trials 2 bike does not have a real collision model. Some parts of the bike can go trough obstacles (affecting gameplay).
    - Trials 2 bike reaches the top speed very quickly and the top speed is really low. Trials HD has more speed and keeping the speed up is one of the main challenges in the new game.
    - Physics obstacles do not work that well on Trials 2 as it has different physics model for physics objects and static objects. Trials HD physics objects behave much more naturally. Also the ragdoll (and crashed bike) behave much more naturally on Trials HD.

These are the biggest ones I have noticed after half a year of Trials HD playing. Graphics in Trials 2 is pretty much ok still and I haven't cared that much about sounds really in Trials games. The new friend scores are important for me, as I always use the friend comparison meter to improve my motivation to beat someone's time.

Man, this game sounds good! It's everything I wanted for a new version.

A constant vsync'd 60fps is something I am soooo pleased about!

I bet you guys are just as excited to release it as we are to recieve it. I'm guessing the game is totally finished now and it's just an xbox live thing for marketing reasons etc it can't be released now?

Its still good. Bit slower phase but still fun to play.

But offcource much longer dev time is visible in Trials HD. its killer.

Yes, it's pretty much ready. The quality control however is much more tight for console games compared to PC games. Usually after all content and code has been completed around 2-3 months are used for bug hunting, fixing and various kinds of certification testing. So we have had plenty of time to finalize everything and finetune the tracks and physics and make sure there are no bugs left in the retail product.

Trials HD is part of Microsoft's yearly Xbox 360 Summer of Arcade campaign. The campaign includes five top quality arcade games each year, and Microsoft is using lots of marketing funds to promote those five games. Each of the five Summer of Arcade games is released in weekly periods. The released game gets all media attention for it's own release week. Microsoft hasn't yet announced the Summer of Arcade 2009 start date (first game release date), but many rumors are floating in the internet.

Last year's Summer of Arcade started at July 30 and ended at August 27 and had following games: Geometry Wars 2, Braid, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Galaga Legions and Castle Crashers. This year's Summer of Arcade includes: Splosion Man, Shadow Complex, Turtles, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Monkey Island and Trials HD. Microsoft hasn't yet announced the order of the Summer of Arcade 2009 game releases.
