Will the ranking system in Trials HD work like it does in Trials 2?
I hope it has been tweaked a bit because imo the current ranking system has way too much emphasis on inferno/diablo/ysnp. 1 rank up on ysnp has more effect than 50 rank ups on one of the easy tracks, which is a bit over the top if you ask me.
I do think the really hard tracks should contribute more to your overall rating than the easy tracks, but not nearly as much as they do in Trials 2.
The new ranking system is based on track medal scores (time + faults). Each track has a platinum, gold, silver and bronze medal goal scores.
Bronze = track is passed
Silver = track is passed with some faults and a mediocre time (harder tracks allow more faults)
Gold = track is passed with minimal or zero faults with a good time (harder tracks allow some faults for gold medal)
Platinum = track is passed with zero faults and a very good time
If you get exactly a track's platinum time you get 150 000 points (of 200 000). Gold medal gives you around 100 000 and silver around 50 000 points and bronze gives around 10 000 depending on the track ranking settings. Usually each fault multiplies your score by around 0.75. And time scoring is linearly scaled inside the fault's score range, except for scores that are better than platinum. For platinum scores we have a exponential curve that reaches 200 000 points at zero faults, zero seconds. This ranking system is more precise than in Trials 2 SE, and track timing is more precise also (1/1000 of second). You also can't lose ranking by not playing like in Trials 2 SE, but others of course will improve their rankings all the time and pass you if you do not play for long time.
Global ranking is calculated by adding all the track point scores together.
What do you mean that you can't loose rank by not playing?! Will people be able to have the same rank as you then?! Please explain some more!
You can't lose your ranking points. But you can of course lose global ranking leaderboard placement when other players improve their ranking score above your score.Originally Posted by 2k3
Theoretical maximum ranking score is 11 000 000 points. In reality players can reach somewhere around 10 million. My current ranking score is 8.2 million. It has a good platinum score in all trials mode tracks (except 3 infernal tracks have only gold scores) and platinum medal in 5 of the 8 tournaments (rest gold medals) and 6 platinum medals in skill game tracks (rest 6 are gold medals).
so, the user created tracks are not counting towards rank ? how do those leaderboards work, or are they for personal use only?
