Most games on PS3 and XBox 360 are rendering on standard HD 720p (1280x720) resolution at 30 fps and some games are using even smaller resolutions. 1080p requires 2.25 times more pixel shader performance compared to 720p to run at same frame rate.

Trials HD is rendering 60 fps at 720p (1280x720). We experimented 30 fps rendering also during the development, but that felt too choppy for a fast paced game that needed very good response time and user input timing. Xbox 360 video scaler is pretty good. It's much better than scalers in PC monitors at least (bicubic/lanczos vs simple bilinear). For best quality you should select the monitor/TV resolution you are using from the Xbox console settings. This way the Xbox 360 scaler does the scaling the and the monitor/TV just outputs the image pixel perfect without any additional scaling.
Well thanks for answering. I guess that's just the one downside to having a 1080P LCD panel. If it were 720P native, it would look pixel perfect and wouldn't have the pixel blotting when displaying a stretched 720p image. I hope at least the next batch of "next gen" consoles are powerful enough to run modern day TV's at their native resolutions.

And I'd have to definitely agree with that, I'd rather this particular game run as smooth as possible than look twice as sharp/clear, but it would be nice if you didn't have to make that decision to begin with, say if the xbox360 had an hd4890 gpu or something similarly up to date.

Ah yeah, the graphics look sweet dude!

I watched the trailer & loved the part where the torch was being brought around the room filled with planks, and all the shadows were being cast upon the walls & stuff..

    Really cool!

Interesting read, I just learned a lot. I only have two PC screens, one old and one archaic LOL, I just don't see any reason to upgrade, they still do the job just fine.

My newest one supports 1280x1024 so I am just glad I'll be able to enjoy Trials HD at it's full potential

So many simple XBLA games run at 30 FPS (and some don't even hold that very well) that I just assumed Trials HD, looking as good as it does, would be 30 FPS. I wasn't sure I was going to buy it. I played a bunch of Trials 2 SE on my HDTV with a 360 controller at 60 FPS and was afraid Trials HD wouldn't compare.

There was a big smile on my face when I loaded the demo and saw it running at a steady 60 FPS and looking so fantastic Awesome stuff!
