chat doesn't work at all
Whatever I type in on any chat window nothing ever works (including !rank). The text does not appear on anyone else's screen.

Do you have a firewall installed to your computer? The chat connects to a different server than the game itself (using IRC protocol instead of HTTP), so it might be that your firewall is blocking it. The easiest way to test if your firewall is blocking the connection to the chat server is to disable it temporarily and then start the game. If the chat now works, you should adjust your firewall to allow the chat connection.

OK I think I have found the bug .. here is what you should try
1) Start trials 2
2) open Chat
3) IMMEDIATELY type a few letters and press return -- BEFORE the 'IRC SERVER welcome' message is displayed -- so within a second or two
4) Now you should notice !rank does not work on any window. Also no-one is reading what you are typing. Also the 'discussion topic' thing does not appear.
Give this a go but I THINK that is the issue.
