v1.08 will fix timer problems on some Athlon x2 configurations on Windows XP. It could help your problem.

Have you tried running the game on both full screen and in windowed mode? Have you tried running the game on low graphics quality, to see if the problem affects only normal graphics quality?

Have u tried removing the dual core optimisation program?

I dont use it at all,, amd x2 6000+ in mine....

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

if your worried some games wont work without the opt then you can still do the same job as the program does with a few key clicks

    eg like this

    start up your game
hit "ctrl" "alt" "delete" to bring up task manager,,
go to processes tab and select your game with a single left click
right click your highlighted process and choose "select affinity"

here your see 2 check boxes marked "cpu 0" and "cpu 1"
    uncheck the "cpu 1" box

thats it,, exit task manager and play...

This is not the same thing as the dual core optimizer does. This way the game can only use one of your cores, and the performance suffers. With dual core optimizer the game can properly use all your CPU cores with maximum performance.

The way I have described is an alternative method instead of installing and using the dual core optimiser program,, in actual fact the few games that have problems with dual cores are few and far between, so few I`ve actually only came across two of them (being star wars battlefront 2 and GTA:SA has issues)

Yes the optimiser will let this particular game work as will the way I described, it is an alternative method to installing and uninstalling a program which is rarely needed..

In many games i have noticed the optimiser actually causes a performance loss as opposed to a gain,, some its a gain instead of a loss,, its all trial and error.. but in my opinion your better off without it.

I was merely giving Karppa the route of removing the optimiser to see if it was the problem with his trials installation and giving him a second option if any games stopped working that he played without having to re-install the optimiser (if this is the problem)

This issue affects only Windows XP (Windows 2000 and Windows Vista are not affected) and does not affect other AMD CPU models (Athlon XP, Athlon 64, Phenom X2, Phenom X3, Phenom X4 and Opterons). Only Athlon 64 X2 is affected and only on Windows XP.

With the Trials 2 v1.08 you do not need the dual core optimizer any more, as we swiched the game to use Windows standard multimedia timers. These timers also work properly on Athlon 64 X2 dual core CPU + XP (without dual core driver package).

I`m just curious now, as I have athlon 64 x2`s, windows xp and I do not use any optimisation program or set affinity, i run on both cores yet I dont seem to be effected by this fault.... although I`m xp pro x64 edition but at the end of the day its still xp.

Karppa is it a ps2 keyboard or a usb keyboard your using?

Which version of xp are you running? eg home/pro/ 64-bit?

This issue only affects 32 bit Windows XP and the early Athlon X2 models. The new X2 models are not affected either. It's a likely a hardware bug in the early Athlon X2 CPU's. The CPU performance counter query gives "randomly" the value of either CPU core (instead of the core where the process/thread has been started). The performance optimizer tool fixes this issue. Most likely this bug is either in the hardware itself (as it has been fixed in later Athlon X2 models without needing any drivers), or in the standard Athlon X2 Windows XP 32bit processor driver. Athlon X2 was the first ever dual core CPU released, and Windows XP was released before dual core CPUs existed, so it's only natural that Windows XP dual core support is not perfect (without new driver packages to add support to the new hardware).

Trials 2 SE v1.08 will be out very soon, and it solves this issue alltogether (by using the Windows multimedia timers instead of the CPU performance counter to perform game timing).
