I used this small text which sebbbi sent to firebullet for getting the translation working, but it did not work for me (I changed the word "polish" to "slovak"):
- Write the translated version of each text to the "Translated" column in the translation excel table.
- Select the first 2 columns of the excel table ("String ID" and "Translated").
- Right click on mouse to and select "Copy".
- Paste to notepad
- Save file as slovak.lng from notepad
- Create directory "lang" under Trials 2 directory ("C:\Program Files\Trials 2 Second Edition BETA\lang")
- Copy the slovak.lng file there
- Open languages.txt file from Trials 2 directory, and add one row to the end of it. Write "slovak" on that row and press enter (empty row must be at end)
I wrote "slovak 1250" at the end.
The problem is that when I select the language in the launcher, I get an error message: "Duplicate Translation!!"
Any ideas what to do with this?![]()
Yes, you have a duplicate of some translation in the language file. The message box tells you what the duplicate translation is. Search it from the slovak.lng file and remove it.

The error message tells you what is the String ID of the text that has been translated twice.
Search for the String ID and remove the additional translation.
Well, I have some texts that are the same, but the error message shows me only some square and the letter "i"![]()
I will change some of the texts and see what happens, if it does not help I will post here again.
The text can be the same, but there cannot be more than one of each String ID.
Seems that there is some kind of problem in your language file. I will send you our English language file, so you can check if the game works properly on it.
Send you an email containing our english.lng file. Btw, what notepad program are you using? We are using the windows default notepad and it works fine. Please save the text as standard ANSI text, do not use unicode, it will mess up the lng file.
Yes, works fine now. I saved it in Unicode before.![]()
Thanks, but one more thing - the launcher itself is not translating to Slovak properly. Only texts in the drop-down menus are translated, but not the texts like "Start" or "Graphics Quality" - they dont change to Slovak version, but keep the last selected version. Not much of an issue, but still, good to know![]()
You have to make a custom background to the launcher if you want translated texts in the background.
The file should be named:
[TRIALS2DIRECTORYHERE]\launcher\launcher_bg_slovak.png
The picture should be 440x432 pixels, 24 bit color depth.
The launcher loads it automatically. If/when the Slovak translation becomes official, Anba is going to make a official translated background to it. When you think the translation is ready, and you have tested it a bit on different screen resolutions (640x480 and 1280x1024 are the most problematic usually), send it to me, and we can put it into the next beta release for proper beta testing run.
