    Wine [NOBUG]

I'm considering throwing my Win XP CD in the dumpster and moving to a Linux installation, and using Wine to play all of my Windows-only games.

I know that Steam works perfectly using Wine, but has anybody here successfully played Trials2SE with it? There's a single entry in the Wine applications database which claims the game won't run, but it was tested using an older version of Wine:

Of course a partitioned boot drive is an option, just curious to know if this has worked for anybody else.

None of us developers have tested the game on Wine. Naturally we are curious to know if someone gets it running.

Because of deferred rendering technology, it will most probably not run under wine. The Direct3D implementation of wine differs from the native implementation.

However, if there is any progress with this, we would be happy to hear.

Low and the new very low graphics modes do not use any deferred rendering techniques. It should not be a problem.

Normal graphics doesn't work at all in wine 1.1.10, while low and very low show some graphics but a lot of textures are missing. With Crossover Games 7.1.0, only low and very low are offered in the launcher, but the game isn't started.

All graphics modes render properly on Transgaming Swiftshader. It's a cross platform software renderer.

Early Transgaming Swiftshader release had problems with Trials 2 SE textures, but I contacted the main programmer of the Swiftshader project, and he fixed a texture loading bug causing the graphics corruption. Maybe you could file a bug report, and get the texture corruption bug fixed on Wine also.
