Graphics card overheating (trials and other games) [SOLVED]
Problem is that my graphics card (7950GT) overheats like crazy (over 100C) when playing Trials 2, this happens even in low graphics setting. I tried Oblivion for example and then temperature was only about 80C. I checked the system requirements and it would seem that 7600 should be enough to run trials2? So any ideas what is wrong here? I have the Steam version. Athlon 64 3500+, 2gb ram, geforce 7950gt 512mb.
Edit: My drivers should be all up to date. Maybe not the newest graphics drivers, but those are not many months old. Soundcard drivers updated just yesterday (X-fi, I saw some problems with that but apparently that's not the problem here). Sorry for writing all this in such a hurry but here should be all the necessary information.

Trials 2 uses rendering technology that uses pixel shaders more than most games. That puts lots of stress on the graphics card.
Does the system become unstable or do you see graphics artifacts? 100 C temperature itself on most cards is not a problem. The drivers will shut down the system if the temperature becomes harmfully high.

The game itself works fine, can't see any lag really and certainly no artifacts. Maybe some lag when it's close to shutting down. The GPU warms up really quickly though, can play maybe for 5 minutes and it shutdowns computer instantly. I presume the limit is something like 120-125 degrees when it does shut it down. I have never experienced this problem in other (even the most resource taking) games.
Edit: I will try to clean out the dust but I don't think it's that. I tried to put the fan going 100% and it still goes out.
Edit2: Actually, wait a second, I think I may have a problem with the graphics cards fan. I'll edit after I have examined the problem.
Edit3: Well, it's not the dust in the case apparently. Trials 2 is the only game where this problem occurs so I don't know. Anyway I'll probably upgrade my computer in a month.

Okay well, Trials 2 works fine in 640x480 windowed mode everything low. Only 80-85C. Still, it should work in bigger resolution and stuff yeah?

did your graphics card come with your computer or did you buy it, if you bought it you might need to upgrade your power supply.
-
I bought it myself. My power supply (450W) is more than enough for this system. And it crashed again in the low 640x480 mode.
Edit: ok, had the same problem in GRID. Guess it's time for a new GPU.
Edit: Yeah, my GPU is dead now, 3 weeks and I'll get a new one. This thread can now be closed.
