    Why not...

    Curious...

Why not have every map organized by difficulty or type. Something like...

    Tutorial
    Easy
    Medium
    Hard
    Dynamic
    Downloaded

...but have the 3 game types (Race, Flip, Wheelie) tracked for every map. Imagine trying to get a wheelie record on something like Inferno.

I dunno I just think this would open up a whole lot more records to beat (3 for each track based on the game type) and fun to be had. All the sudden every map in the game can be played with 3 different mind sets. "gotta hurry" "gotta flip" "gotta wheelie".

I can see your idea but personally I dont really care all that much about the wheelie and the flip tracks and to make 66% of the game wheelie and flip tracks and only 33% racing tracks would make it impossible for me to do well in the rankings because I am not all that interested in those and not will to put as much time into them.

I do believe most people prefer the racing to the other two types and your proposal would make the game much more focused on wheelie and flip tracks than anything else.

Like AndreSmol says + For flips there isn't a time limit for checkpoints in regular tracks, which would make it pointless...
