So I got this today and was very disappointed to find that most of the game is locked, and that this was done in the last patch.
Judging from the demo, I am not very good at this game, and I expect to be able to unlock perhaps a fifth of it. Can I get back 8 of the 10$ I paid?
I really don't understand the reason behind such a decision. Its just annoying and useless.
Career progress is tied to profiles. You can play using no profile (select: No active profile) to access all tracks whenever you want.
Also you don't have to complete all tracks to unlock the locked ones. Complete 4 tutorial tracks to access all wheelie tracks and first 3 easy tracks. Complete some more easy tracks (not all of them required) and you get access to all flip tracks, dynamic tracks and 3 medium tracks. If you want to access more medium tracks, play some of the unlocked ones first. The level categories are designed so that the easiest tracks are unlocked right away, and the hardest are at the end of the category. You don't have to pass the 3 hardest tracks of each category at all to unlock everything.
Tutorials are very easy to pass, and the tracks are super short. So are the easiest of the easy tracks. After passing those you can access the majority of the game (everything except hard tracks and hardest medium tracks). If you want to access the hard tracks, you can pass 5 medium tracks at this point.
Thanks for the reply. I still think that locking levels is a bad idea. See backlash for same in GT legends.
Think if you use an half hour every now and then you will quickly start to unlock the levels. So don't think there would be any problem. Just take it slowly and easy. Don' stress to break the records.
Personally, I think having the majority of tracks locked at first is a great way to go. It helps with the psychology behind a great game. It's like the whole reason that Microsoft has the whole "achievement points" thing. There is a part of the brain that is referred to as the "reward center". When activated, this produces a chemical that creates a feeling of pride. As a long time viedogame addict, I realize that my dependence on this feeling is what keeps me coming back for all these years. That was probably a bit more geeky of a response than anyone hoped for, but there's a little random fact to bring up to people.
It also makes sure people have a chance to get the hang of the easier tracks before throwing themselves into the harder ones. I remember the first time I ever passed the track that's now called King of Beer, and I had like 90 something faults. If I would have spent a bit more time practicing the easier tracks beforehand, I would have saved myself a lot of frustration![]()
This was the number one reason why we implemented the game progress. To offer the gamer a better learning curve. Many reviewers criticized the game to have too steep learning curve. So we added plenty of new easy tracks at first. This was not enough, so now in v1.07 we added new easy downloadable tracks, new tutorial tracks, the improved tutorial mode with example rides and descriptions and the game progress to keep the learning curve as manageable as possible. This is all designed to help the beginners, not to frustrate them.Originally Posted by nullen
And also like nullen said, it feels much more fulfilling to complete a track when you get some kind of reward by doing it. Unlockable stuff is there to reward the player for his accomplishments.
it is much better having to unlock stuff then just get it handed to you . love it .
I think every level should be locked till you unlock it, and I think there should be hidden levels after you beat all the levels, there should be at least 2-3 hidden tracks for the dedicated players ^^
