I have head that the new Nvidia GFX cards (9000 series) are not as powerfull as the 8800 Ultra's Is this true?

Yes. 9800 GTX is slightly less powerful than 8800 Ultra.

It's much cheaper to manufacture and consumes less power and produces less heat. And the price is also lower.

For high end users there is also Geforce 9800 GX2. It has two 9800 chips in one board in SLI configuration. It's much faster than 8800 Ultra, and only slightly more expensive.

I have a Velocity Micro desktop computer and my video card [Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX] has been working perfectly up until now. Mt guess is that my VGA to DVI adapter quit working because both ends of the VGA cord work and the Video card is running in the computer, I just have no display. The monitor gets no signal and I don't know why.

First, try a different monitor.

Does the card have multiple video outputs (VGA, hdmi)? Try a different output.
