License Verification Failed (Korean/Japanese OS) [SOLVED]

    Hi,

I bought the game yesterday and got the license key

After installing the game and typing the license key

it says the game is activated but after that keeps getting the error saying "License Verification Failed" and game won't load up

I emailed the company and got some reply from Jukka, but the problem still remains so i thought could get some helps here

There is one thing that i think is causing the problem. i am using a router to connect to the internet and the router is using another computer's mac address which is different from the one where the game is installed.

any help would be appreciated. i am fed up with playing the demo

    my laptop specs are:
    Dell xps m1330
Vista 32 bit home premium sp1
    Nvidia 8400m gs

Have a look at this. Perhaps your problem is router-related

    Thanks for your suggestion
I dont think my problem is about firewall because the game can get activated.
After activation succeeded , License verification fails which means the data that sever has and the one in my computer doesnt match, i guess

Like i said above, it seems the problem is related to MAC address that my router uses which is different from my laptop that games installed.
I had to use that MAC address because my internet service is resigstered to that address.

I wonder how the verification works, does it check MAC address to verify? if so, then if MAC address is changed to the one my router use that would solve the problem, I hope.

No it doesn't use MAC adress, ip address or anything from your network configuration that to calculate your machine ID. Do you have anything special in your Windows installation? Some users with Japanese and Korean Windows versions have reported similar problems. We are investigating them as soon as we get ourselves a Japanese Windows installation.

Damn, my windows is Korean version! there was the problem
Do you have plan to get Korean version too and fix it?

Thanks for your reply, now I know what the problem is at least.

Guess I have to play the demo a little longer

It could be that there is some problem with Korean/Japanese characters in file/directory paths. Our system supports all special characters and various utf encodings in font rendering and text processing, but I am not exactly sure if our file system supports all non-ascii characters properly. We have never used directiory/file names that have non-ascii characters in the games we have localized for separate languages (Warhammer 40K: Squad Command was localized to 5 languages). We will conduct the testing with Japanese Windows next week.

Thank you for the details of the issue.

Like you said, a part of the path where the "License.dat" is written in Korean letters in Korean windows as follow

    C:\사용자\Seouk\AppData\Local\Redlynx\Trials 2 SE\1.0\License.dat

Hope fixing it for Japaness windows version will do the same to Korean version as well

Thanks for the info! I was suspecting something like this. Funny thing is that the game writes to that directory properly, but there is something wrong when it tries to load the file. Could be for example that our data pack system doesn't handle those characters well, and the game tries to load the file from the pack (instead of the proper hard drive directory). We will inform you about our findings next week.
