Impassable Firewall Problem (Proxy)
Hi,
I bought Trials2SE at home and wanted to bring my copy on the job for some sweet midday relaxation time.
The problem is, there is a persistent firewall and there's no way to make an exception.
I tried copying my activated version from home (Program Files + Application Data) but when launched the game still asked about my key.
Is there anything else I must copy to make it work behind the firewall? I gave a quick look at the registry and didn't find anything interesting.
Thanks.

You cannot just copy that license key to a other computer, the activation is limited to 3 different computers.
Are you sure that you haven't already used all those, becase it should work if your firewall is configured so that it allows the game to connect to the server.
Does the activation fail when you are trying to re-enter you lisence key ?

I used my key once at home (alexandre@agsoftware.ca/Alexandre Gosselin so you can double check).
The problem is that nothing goes through the firewall at my job. Nothing outside port 80 and 21 AFAIK. Even then there are some limitations.
Thus my need for a workaround

The game uses TCP-port 80 to connect to the server. So if that port is open it should work.
If the game gives "Unable to connect to server" message, then it's not that your activations are running out. If there are no activations left you would get an "Activation failed" message.

I do get an "Activation failed" warning message after a very long delay at the "Testing internet connection" popup.
Is there a way I can see how much activations I have left? There should be 1, as I installed the game on XP before formatting to Vista.

The exact pattern is:
Enter T2SE Serial Number
Wait on "Testing internet connection"
Get an error that says "Cannot perform actionation (...) connection (...) cannot be established. Check your firewall config.
License verification failed.
Back to serial menu.
Anything I could try? It's a very strict firewall

I came asking for help, not sarcasm.

The Trials 2 connection requests are to a standard web server (port 80), and are normal HTML requests. There should not be anything in those packets that firewalls block.
However if you need to use a proxy connection to access web, then there is a problem. Trials 2 does not support connection though a user defined proxy. I will ask our network coder if proxy support is possible to implement in a future version.

That's got to be the problem. Everything needs to go through a proxy, usually the one defined as IE's settings.
I'll stay updated to see if this gets solved in the future. Thanks for the troubleshooting!
