Tips and Hints thread. Help for beginners to get in the game

Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to implement a proper step by step tutorial mode to Trials 2 Second Edition. The purpose of this thread is to help beginners to get in to the game by teaching all the basic manouvers you need for solid driving.

    Bare Basics
Balancing your bike is the first thing to learn. You can lean backward and forward. By leaning forward the center of gravity of the bike moves towards the bike front tire. This is very handy when you are driving on upwards slopes. Leaning backwards moves the bike center of gravity towards the bike back tire. This is handy when you are driving on a downward slope. Also when leaning back, the bike center of gravity moves slightly downwards. This helps the bike to be a bit more stable when you are driving on a rough terrain.

    Jumping Techniques
After you have learned the bare basics, the first thing to learn are the three most common jumping techniques. With these techniques you can jump higher and further away from ramps and edges. It's highly important that you learn all of these if you want to start play the Medium difficulty tracks and especially the Hard difficulty tracks.

    Switch Jump:
    - Doable when you are leaning fully forwards and have enough space to accelerate a bit.
    - Accelerate first and keep the accelerator pressed until you get off.
    - Quickly tap lean back and then immediately tap lean forward just before your front tire goes over the ramp edge.
    - When at up hill press lean back and lean forward very shortly or you will likely flip your bike over. When downhill press the buttons for a longer time to get even higher jump height.
    - The main usage of Switch Jump is to get much higher than you would normally get from a ramp. It doesn't help with horizontal jump distance (often actually making your jump shorter).

    Spring Jump:
    - Doable when you are leaning fully backwards. Usable on all surfaces except on highly rising slopes.
    - Accelerate first and keep the accelerator pressed until you get off.
    - Just before your front wheel goes over the ramp edge, press forward and keep it pressed until the driver is fully at front position and your backwheel is in air.
    - The main usage of Spring Jump is to get further when you jump from a ramp. It also gets you slightly higher, but not as much as Switch Jump does.

    Spring Jump Reverse:
    - Variation of Spring Jump. Do it like Spring Jump, but immediately when your get into air press back and keep it pressed.
    - The main usage of Spring Jump Reverse is to get over tricky ramp obstacles combinations that are not passable with either of the techniques described above, because your backwheel would touch the obstacle you are jumping over causing you fall flat on your face.

Wel i dont know if it belongs in here but i thought it should couse i realy have some problems with the first obstacle in that new dynamic lvl.

I realy cant figure out how to get over the first ramp after you started the domino. I managed it once by luck i think and the rest of the track was not that frustrating to me...

So can someone plzz tel me what technique i could use or give me some tips?

You have to lean back the whole way, then once you hit the top of the barrels push forward. Watch a couple of the replays to understand it better.

I do it by first leaning fully forward, then accelerating to the ramp. When my both wheels are still at ground I do a very quick switch jump motion (tap back and forward buttons). Keep accelerating in the air, and your backwheel will hit the barrels giving you extra height to get past the obstacle.

I've had the game a couple of days and I'm finding spring jumping next to impossible!

Through dumb luck I managed to get past the first 2 jumps on the Spring Tutorial track (actually doing a flip onto the first jump), and then tried over 60 times to get past the third one before giving up in frustration.

The game quickly went from a fun demo I played for 20 mins and then purchased, to something much less than fun - just plain frustrating. To be honest if spring jumping had been included in the demo I wouldn't have purchased the game because it stopped being fun very quickly.

I've studied the replays and read the tips but I just can't seem to master it. There's no chance of including a button for spring/switch jumping is there?

    Anyway!

Don't take the spring jump tutorial too seriously if you first don't manage to pass it. The jumps on that tutorial are a bit on the hard side on purpose so that the player actually has to learn the technique properly. Usually you do the spring jump on much easier conditions just to gain a bit extra speed and distance on a jump.

Spring jumping in it simplicity is just: Arrive at the ramp leaning back, then just before the ramp ends lean forward. Simple as that. When you achieve mastery of the spring jump you can add a bit of wheelie to the leaning back phase which usually adds a nice extra bounce to the jump.

My main tip for all new players is NOT to rush into the hard tracks too soon. You really should practice on the easy and medium tracks first. At least achieve the promising student and real talent achievements. I also recommend at least trying to get the speed boost achievement before playing hards. This might be hard in it self but much easier than trying to learn in the hard tracks.

Heh Jorma I'm still trying to get speed boost myself

But yeah, it just takes practice, and soon it becomes simple like breathing to do all the right moves for each obstacle.
