Have tried removing anti aliasing, running at a lower resolution, installing latest graphics card drivers (nvidea geforce 7600 GT).
Has trials 2 and ran with out any trouble, deleted that after installing SE.
I run a 2.2ghz dual core processor with 1gb of ram so i meet all the min requirements. Help Please!!!
Could you explain a bit more, so I can try to figure out the most possible causes of the problem.
- For how long time is the screen freezed? (just a second or two or longer time)
- How often do these screen freezes occur?
- Do the freezes only occur when you have played the game for a while?
- Are you playing in fullscreen mode or windowed?
- Do you have some software running on background while you play?
screen freezes until i hit the esc key, after a second or two the game pause menu appears. but then freezes again
on rare occasions the game will play as normal for 5 mins or so until problem occurs. but usually straight away.
problem occurs in windowed mode and fullscreen.
only software ruuning in background is anti virus software. old version ran with out probs even with itunes runnong in background
even does it on load up, music plays as normal but mouse is unresponsive and background doesn't flow it jumps to a still every 2 secs or so
have posted video of this happening on youtube, please read description of video for a better idea. please help, really frustrated. i just wanna play
Thanks for the video! Clears up things nicely.
It looks like your graphics card gets completely stalled for long periods of time. We haven't encountered anything like that in any of our testing computers. We had six dual core computers (both Pentium 4 and Core 2 models) with Geforce 7000 series cards installed using various driver revisions.
The only slow down issue we found was with one test computer that had a misfunctioning case fan. The temperature of the video card rise too high, and the graphics card automatic safety system halted the card clocks for short time periods causing a similar problem that you have. It looked a bit different than your problem (the card was a ATI card). When the fan was fixed the game started to work properly again. This problem only occurred when you had played the game for around 2 or 3 minutes.
If you open your case and check your fans, I would also recommend cleaning any dust that might be inside the case. Dust rises temperatures. If you have overclocked your CPU or graphics card, I would also try to clock them back to normal settings and see if the game runs properly. If these steps do not improve the situation at all, please run dxdiag (open start menu -> run -> type "dxdiag"). Choose "Save All Information" from the dxdiag main screen, and copy paste that txt file to this thread. I will check your hardware configuration and see if I can find some problems there.
Update:
Have you tried to run the game in windowed mode? There is one more thing that could explain this problem.
Are you running the game on double monitor setup, and starting the game on monitor 2?
turnt off my pc to let it cool and when rebooted it ran fine for a while so this would suggest a temperature problem. all fans are working and dust has onlt recently been removed. gpu temp rises to 88 deg. is this normal and how can i overcome it?
According to information I found around internet 7600 GT should run around 70 degs under full load (and around 50 degrees on idle). Check that the airflow is not blocked to your graphics card. If possible move some other cards to lower slots to make room for the airflow.Originally Posted by gibbon
