Website Player Rankings and Scores
Hi all,
I am just wondering how the scores that are posted on the website are calculated? I have not been able to play today but i have watched my score steadily rise by about 10-15 points over the course of the day!
Are they related to how many people have played the level? Is third place on a level that 130 people have played more valuable that 3rd place on a level 3 people have played? That could be one explanation for the score increasing if more people are playing the level but not beating your score......
I might just be being too obsessive but I am interested!
Cheers,

The ranking score calculation is explained in the FAQ (last question):
http://www.redlynxtrials.com/SupportFaq.action
The first one in every track always gets 100 points, and the last one gets always 10 points. All other places are calculated by linear interpolation.
Example 1: 5 players have passed the track
- Place 1: 100 points
- Place 2: 70 points
- Place 3: 50 points
- Place 4: 30 points
- Place 5: 10 points
Example 2: 10 players have passed the track
- Place 1: 100 points
- Place 2: 90 points
- Place 3: 80 points
- Place 4: 70 points
- Place 5: 60 points
- Place 6: 50 points
- Place 7: 40 points
- Place 8: 30 points
- Place 9: 20 points
- Place 10: 10 points
Example 3: 3 players have passed the track
- Place 1: 100 points
- Place 2: 55 points
- Place 3: 10 points
Example 4: 90 players have passed the track
- Place 1: 100 points
- Place 2: 99 points
- Place 3: 98 points
- Place 4: 97 points
- Place 5: 96 points
...
- Place 90: 10 points
It's true that you gain some points when new players are passing the tracks and placing below you. Of course the opposite is also true. When new players place above you you lose some points.

That is perfect thanks, its what I suspected was happening. It is expected that if someone places above you you lose points but it is nice that you can sometimes gain some for free!
This effect will become much less pronounced as the player base increases, eventually the top few players may only have 1 point of separation if the uptake is as good as in Trials 2 first edition
