GRAPHICS: 9/10
Game looks great, even on my mid-range PC (it was a monster PC 2 years ago!!). I sometimes feel that the playing arena is a bit 'busy' at times with all the lighting and effects and detracts from the game slightly. The attention to detail is superb, and the physics are close to reality. This is nit-picking, but I would have liked to have seen some changes to the bike's tryes, real trials riders ride with next-to-flat wheels so there is extra grip on obstacles, it would have been ace to see that sort of detail...but like I said, this is nit-picking.
SOUND: 8/10
Not tried the 7.1, but through my Jamo Power stereo setup the game sounds ace. I admit I have to turn the music off - I can't concentrate with it on!! I didn't think I'd like the new engine sound compared with the old FE; however, I did, and I now think it was a necessary improvement. I would have liked to have seen some dynamic engine sounds, e.g. a 'struggling' engine sound when on inclines, over-revving on declines etc. I love the contact 'clunk' noise of the bottom plate with scenery - nice touch!!!
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
This is where the Trials games excell in my opinion. Games like Crysis and COD4 look great and play well, but after two or three weeks I'll be bored and on to the next FPS. Trials I play frequently and consistently, and have been doing since the old Basic/Pro/Construction Yard/Mountain Heights/2 FE games. There was a game back in the early 1990's on the Sinclair ZX spectrum called KikStart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kikstart_2) which I played avidly for years!! Trials brings the idea screaming into the 21st century.
On a critical note, I often feel there is too much luck involved in passing levels - sometimes you catch a barrel with your rear wheel and it sends you flying, sometimes you miss it and plough head-first into the floor, once in a while you'll catch that 'sweet spot' and put in a record time. I find it takes me 50 - 100 attemtps to hit the sweet-spots (if at all). Conversely, if you look at players like QcChopper and Jorma, they play so controlled and with so much skill, perhaps you make your own luck in the game???
OVER ALL: 9/10
A superb game that will keep me entertained for years (literally). Not so developed as to prevent future versions, but obviously well done and well thought through.
There are a few 'issues' I've noticed that are slightly annoying e.g. when flipping at high speed the front and rear wheels catch up with each other and the bike bends in half (heh!), and also I feel that the bike is still a bit bouncy when dropping from a height; I'm sure real trials bikes don't bounce? or do they?
As said before, with a level editor this would have been an instant 10/10. With the sort of community development that would arise from an editor, this game would be massive and the possibilities endless, and I look forward to it coming (pls pls pls pls pls pls).
On an end note, this is by far the best game I own or have ever played. The RedLynx team should be incredibly proud. A triumph.
- I'm making a note here; "huge success"

Nice review ChiliBum!
BTW I don't feel luck is involved particularly: It's like skateboarding for example. If you try to do a fairly complex flip trick, you will not succeed everytime. Different skaters will have a different success rate based on their experience and understanding of the motion of a flipping skate. So you basicly get lucky when you pull off a trick that is really hard or just above your skill level.
The way the replays are executed, the game reproduces only the key pressed at a hundredth of a second frequency and can reproduce exactly what you did everytime so there is no randomness in gameplay in the sense that everything that can be done can be done again, like in real life. (that's why replays weigh like 10-15k max)
Yeah, I guess you're right.
I have definately noticed that I have gotten much better at the game in the last few weeks or so. In the FE I really didn't bother much with trying to get on the leader board, but now with the 'ghost' mode I like to see my name in the top 10 at least. And I'm no.6 world ranking!! WOOT!!
BTW, how does the ranking score work???
Yup, I'd like a complete breakdown on ranking points, all I know now is that 1st place gives 100 ranking points.
Chili is the best! Chili in the bum is a bit overkill though ^^
Very nice review chili!
I think trials 2 is close to perfection, there are as said some things that are still not perfect, but close. In FE you had to drive much less aggressive, else your bike or arms would go to heck. This is almost fixed, it's just that thing with the flipping that still upsets the bike now
The music is off, can't stand it, sorry :/
( The sound is also off, even though it is pretty good. I just can't sit with that engine sound in my ear for hours on end. )
If you release the editor it will be close to a ten, as it is now I would say it is 90% done.
lol, not quite what I had in mind.Originally Posted by Zakor

Ranking points are based on your positions on the track highscore lists. 1st place on a track always gives you 100 points and the last place gives you 10 points. Other places are rewarded dynamically between 10-100 depending how many players have passed the track. All your track ratings are summed together to form your total ranking.Originally Posted by QcChopper

Ranking calculation is subject to change if it is found not to work with thousands of people or when I drop out of the top 10![]()
