Crash on level startup (mobility radeon + dell) [SOLVED]

    Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop
    Vista Home Premium 32-bit
ATI mobility radeon x1400 256mb hypermemory (128mb shared)
    Intel Core 2 CPU T7200 2.00Ghz
    2GB RAM

Ok so i'm a bit confused...i just bought Trials2 through miniclip and it doesn't work. I'm not even sure if this is the right forum as it says Second Edition but its the only one i could find!

Anyway so every time i select difficulty and then click 'drive' it crashes to desktop saying "trials2_low.exe has stopped working"

    I've tried combinations of:
    Changing resolutions
    Running as Administrator
    XP compatability mode
    Windowed/Full screen

all with quality setting on normal but nothing seems to make it actually run...only the menu works.

Is there a fix/patch? or any other solutions or shall i proceed with getting a refund.

First thing to do is to upgrade your graphics chip drivers.

Click here to open Dell driver support page for Inspiron 6400 laptop:

    http://support.dell.com/support/down...WW1&hidlang=en

Download the graphics drivers by clicking on Video (5) and then selecting Mobility Radeon X1400 download. Run the driver installer, and restart your computer.

If Trials 2 doesn't work after driver upgrade, I suggest you wait until the next week. Trials 2 SE release is sheduled early next week, and it fixes some compatibility bugs in the old version.

Thanks Sebbbi for the help and info. I have newer catalyst drivers than the one's from that Dell page which perform better etc on all my other games so i don't think its that.

I shall await the release next week then hope it works.

    Thanks

    You system specs seem fine.

Please start the game again. When it crashes, there is a pop-up dialog showing up asking you a confirmation to send Microsoft a bug report. Send a bug report, and we will get the exact information where the game crashed, and can start analyzing the problem. If we can track the problem, there will be a patch released in a few days. This problem has not been occurring in any of our 20 testing machines, so it's really important that you use the Microsoft bug sending service to provide us the information to start tracking it. Thank you for your effort!

Ok i've sent the bug report so hopefully you should have something.

If that fails i can always just copy and paste the code thats in the txt files which the Microsoft error report refers to.

Typical me that out of 20 test comps mine doesn't work. Its reassuring to know that you're potentially addressing the problem though.

    Thanks

There is a 3-4 day delay from Microsoft when you launch a new application and add it tho their bug reporting system. Also all reports have 1-2 day delays. We haven't got the crash report yet from Microsoft, so we haven't been able to start analyzing the problem. This is a very rare problem, and we haven't been able to reproduce it with any of our 20 test computers.

Unfortunately there are lot of delays in getting error reports from Microsoft.

To analyze crash problems more efficiently, it would be very helpful to have the following info:

    - From the Microsoft error report, the file that has extension ".mdmp"
    - DxDiag report, here's how to save it: Press Windows key + R to open the Run diaglog, type "dxdiag" and from the dxdiag-application click "Save all Information".

Send these two files as email attachments to trials2-support@redlynx.com.

Hopefully we are able to resolve this problem soon!
