Let's hope this includes personal attachments for our weapons (gun platform, stock, barrel, all rail attachments) so we have a reason to keep scavenging for different items and gear. We can also continuously replace a worn out versions by selling or trading with a chance of it actually being bought. People should want to keep their weapon running with maximum efficiency! (and ammo)

Each part of you gun (stock, body, attachments, barrel) could have a total life span bar, which very slowly dwindles down via an in-game life meter depending on how often you use it. This can be monitored while observing your weapons(s) in Inventory (this can work for melee weapons too, a sort of life span). Once the meter is very low/in red, its max damage model could roll towards the lower end of it's damage range, while spread also increasing for the gun. Maybe even slightly decrease it's rate of fire as well (+/- 50 rpm)? This way you'd continuously have to find new or healthy parts for the gun, or an entirely new model of it itself. (electronics and optics' life spans can require a new battery after it's life meter' empties.) Hmm...this makes me think there should be certain bullet types or internal gas systems which promotes the gun to roll towards its higher end of its damage model...the gas system should wear out over time as well along with any other internal/external feature (Gun Smith GR:FS part-expand feature would be amazing!)

I think this can increase the life span of the game and keep people playing because they will want to constantly ensure their weapon is performing at top-notch levels at all times. Also, interactions within the Social Zone would be continuously dynamic within the game. You will have a reason to keep scavenging/selling/trading/buying, even if you find each part of your own final loadout. I never liked the feeling in games where I finally unlocked my favorite gun and each of its weapon attachments, then kinda just sitting stale in a way because you've accomplished a huge personal goal in the game. This can gently urge players to consistently find and/or stock up on specific parts, once you get your final weapon set-up together. This can also promote the continuous sales of various parts and guns in the Social Zone, and not have a very limited inventory selection because everyone already found their favorite gun and attachments.

I hope MASSIVE implements a system like this so the game can stay alive, and be less static after we ultimately find our favorite guns and their attachments (which could be relatively quick, due to personal exploration AND Social Zone stores). This can be a great aspect to the game and make it a bit more hardcore! imo
I agree with this being implemented in the game, which it most likely will be.

As far as weapon customization goes i'm hoping there are plenty of options to chose from as well as "craft".

Sadly I think you may be disappointed unless the whole weapon system is reworked none of this will happen as much as any of us would love to see that. Here's why

As you can see guns only have a limited number of attachment slots and assuming from this picture that could easily be random. But this is a sniper but still it should have different barrels and suppressor etc. However it only has a stock, sight and mag upgrade. Now this is but one gun you may find the same gun with, more attachment slots, already attached with attachments, or better damage as remember this is an rpg weapons usually get better as you go so.

Things can still change or be updated =)
The game has got to have Suppressors, but the barrel isn't shown as a 'mod slot' in the picture. I'm sure Suppressors will be in the game because we already saw one on Nick's Vector. Would be nice to choose between a short or long barrel though, as well as Suppressors. All it would take is one more line leading towards the gun's barrel and viola.

I hope the guns don't necessarily "get better" the more u level up. Maybe its stats (damage, range and Mod Slots even) can be randomized but still be in the same ball park. I would prefer if all the guns had their own base damage model and range with them all being exceptionally effective at close quarters (as in fire fights with distances that we've seen in the game play). A Wear and Tear system would be a better alternative to just finding "better, higher damaging guns" so people won't gravitate to one or two fire arms. They'll be urged to find functioning parts for their own gun, which basically should perform just as well as any other gun at close ranges (excluding shotguns and Snipers)
