Ive been playing this game now for well over 80 hours, ive found 7 white whales, 6 convoys but only 1(ONE) chest, is was on an beach next to a cliff bottom (after Approx 10 hours play), where a normal chest and a fragment were located,,, i have seen maps of where the chest's ETC are meant to be,,, but nothing appears,,, i must've wasted 6 hours yesterday,just walking round Havana and Kingston trying to find some chests.. i beginning to think it's ********,,

Well after 200+ Hours of gameplay I cannot believe the spawn rate of the convoys and chests 5 years later hasn't been adjusted to reflect the fact that 1 in 50 people are probably still active in Black Flag. I have every other acheivement/quest completed and have 1 chest and 1 convoy, with 2 to go. I have at this point given up 100% completion and stopped playing. This is generally why I avoid UbiSoft products in general as I am completely tired of either being forced to play in circles for 1000 hours or in the case of their newer products, pay to finish them.

Loved the game, the BS "social" challenges in a game with almost no playerbase should have been adjusted long ago to make these chests either more visible to find, or have them spawn more frequently for players who have completed every other aspect of the game. They are literally the only 2 things I searched for for the last 100 hours of gameplay. Good Job UBI, no wonder you're hemorrhaging customers like air from a tire on a spike strip.

Ok... that’s enough! I think all social events Abstergo challenges and Xbox achievements are broken. I found a social chest, three whales and three royal convoys in a week.

Still have 0/3 social chest, 1/3 whale and 1/3 royal convoy in Abstergo challenge.
Also have 66% Xbox achievement...

I think since AC Initiates is down, it’s not working anymore.

Will try to contact support to see if they can add this as completed in my account since it’s server side.

EDIT: Ubisoft can’t help.

This helped me find my remaining two chests in about 25 mins. I visited all the places starting from the top, however i found all my three chests in cities (ie havana) never on the remote nameless islands, so perhaps you can skip those places and save time

I'm just glad the game wasn't a huge grind. No grinding to level 55, no grinding for metal and wood or kill contracts, no grinding for a social chest (60 hours and counting and not 1 chest so far). I'm also glad the mission isn't bugged where you have to kill the captain with a swing rope. Imagine having to grind that mission as well

This was one of the best ACs so far, but the grinding is plain ridicilous. But it is one way to keep people from playing other games.

Make sure you have your notifications and social sharing turned on in the options menu (sheesh!) And that you're connected to Uplay, you can tell that its on by the wifi icon next to your minimap.

Just youtube the chest location video playlist and go to them all randomly until you find then. Also helpful to add people from this board to your friends list on uplay account, if we find something it appears on your map. Make sure you have the wifi signal next to your map, shows you are connected to uplay and hence can share the things you find. Servers are always an issue with ubi soft so some days you wont be able to make progress at all. LASTLY its helpful to turn on social sharing notifications in your game option menu. Good luck! I just need 1 more damn convoy!
