Like it or not, Green Day is huge. Everybody's heard of them. Everybody knows who it is when they hear them. Haters are usually old. Rock 'n Roll "purists" will die out eventually. This is a big score for RS. I congratulate them. Not sure I will buy the pack, though. They've provided too much good music in the past. I'm both spoiled and choosy now.
BINGO!!! Not everyone should buy every DLC every week. It wouldn't be art if we all thought it was right for us each week. Green Day will please some of the folks here this week, and I'm betting that this will be a high selling DLC.Originally Posted by goosfrabaaaah Go to original post
I think people are just wondering why they're making such a big deal out of it. It's not a huge win, there are zero point zero solos in their music, and they're not really thought about when you mention guitar icon type bands. It's probably got to do with the release of the competition this week. I saw more RS commercials during Sunday Night Football on NBC, and they are making this out to be a huge win for a DLC band. Their take, and it's probably right, is if they convince the folks on the fence to stay, the day one sales of BF will be lowered significantly.
Those are all big bands, including Green Day. How is a household name that sold 70+million albums not a big band? Also, we have songs by the The Who, Rolling Stones, and CCR already, and one song from one of Green Day's newest album, which isn't really representative of their style. There's more to life than classic rock.
Its criminal that we're missing Green Day. Its something easy and sounds good for a beginner to pick up. Considering Iron Maiden was released not too long ago, this makes sense.
What do you guys expect? When they release DLC to say something like, "This week we have an alright band..."
Famous or not, they are and should be excited to have new content to release.
As far as the argument goes....I first heard Green Day in high school. I don't listen to them often, but sometimes the mood strikes. They ARE pretty famous and have been for quite some time.
AC/DC....My problem with them isn't really the music, it's mostly the singing. I CAN'T STAND IT. I throw Led Zep in there too. The sad thing is both are seriously over-played on local radio stations which increases my overall dislike of them.
Back to DLC....as long as Hitchin' A Ride shows up I'm somewhat happy.
I'd have to agree. I'm not a big fan but I can't argue with 6 platinum albums(RIAA). Hell, Dookie is 10x platinum.Originally Posted by clashremote Go to original post

Solos do not make a band, I'm sure AC/DC is enjoyable to play but to me they are the equivalent of a ham and cheese sandwich, just music for the lowest common denominator.Originally Posted by PRS_Rocker Go to original post
Not to say Green Day isn't the same thing but I find there is much more variety across Green Day's catalog.
