Instead, all we got was another lie that suggested it was somehow our retailer's fault. I really enjoy this game, but until the company has the guts via any one of their employees to actually issue an apology, I won't recommend it to others... And, weeks later, I'm pretty sure I won't be recommending this game at all, since I'm pretty sure they think this to be ancient history now. Which is fine. I'll play the game, I'll enjoy the game. There were at least 6 people that bought RS1 because I encouraged it so much. RS2014 would easily get more praise... but if common decency and a respect for their clients is too much to ask, so is word of mouth from me.
It's not that I doubt that we've been lied to as consumers, but what did they lie about? Just curious, that's all.

Who did you pre-order from and what exactly was the nature of your issue?

You folks claimed in June that you would be releasing a no-cable version for us loyal RS users... a nice gesture. I executed that pre-order through Best Buy. They even had little pre-order cards printed for both copies. The day of release, I go to Best Buy, and there are zero no-cable versions there. Hmmmmm, I thought. Well, I guess I'll have to take the cable version for $20 extra. They were able to manually deduct the pre-order costs and apply it to the new purchase. Unfortunately, buying the cable version meant I wasn't redeeming my pre-order... which meant I wasn't getting the email from Best Buy with the unlock code for Cherub Rock. So, then they had to pretend I had picked up my no-cable version, which generated the email, pretend that I returned it, and purchased the other version... an hour later.

Now, one might think this was Best Buy just not forwarding their set of pre-order stock to the manufacturer, but that's simply not the case, as no Best Buy even got that version. Game Stops apparently didn't get their full inventory, etc. etc. And when it was brought up on this forum, the singular response from Black Widow at the time was to contact our retailer because it was their fault, not Ubisofts........ which is just a lie, since, as far as I can tell, you folks didn't remotely live up to your pre-orders for the no-cable version.... and then blamed it on the retailers.

The extra hour and the additional $20 isn't the point... being lied to? Is.

Steam download FTW! Sometimes I forget that people actually drive to the store and buy a disk.

So, then, not actually remotely relevant to what we're discussing. Thanks.

Quit complaining at least you got your Cherub rock DLC ... /jk

I bought through ubisoft (because it was the only no cable PS3 preorder available in Italy), and they then claimed the DLC was an amazon only offer. At this point I I made them understand that they advertised it as their own and I followed their links to purchase from the offer, to which they answered that they had made a mistake, and had corrected this, but would eventually get me a DLC code (I have this in writing), but I've been waiting for over a month now ...

Sorry to hear about your troubles. FWIW, it automatically came with a digital pre-order purchase via PSN, i.e. when I downloaded RS2014, Cherub Rock automatically d/led as well.
