If you do definitely NOT release a DLC I want to know.
If you DO release one I want to know.
If you are unsure I want to KNOW.
It really is frustrating. That's why I bought Dishonored, Tomb Raider, Quantum of Solace, Resident Evil 5, 6, and Operation Raccoon City, and Silent Hill: HD Collection. I will play these games, along with Blacklist on the side, because the wait for DLC is unknown. Whether we get any or not, I'm tired of waiting for a confirmation, so I will play other games I never played before in the meantime. I beat the SP of Blacklist twice, the coop many times, and SvM is still fun, but seriously with only 6 maps, it gets old fast.Originally Posted by Dome500 Go to original post
I hate it when I see games like The Last of Us, Borderlands, Saints Row IV (got same release date as Blaclist, and is getting "Christmas" DLC), and now Batman: Arkham Origins, all getting DLC announcements, while Blacklist gets nothing. I seriously believe Ubisoft has nothing more for Blacklist, which makes sense because of the underperforming sales. Even though it's managing to sell a little bit more, apparently 2 million copies wasn't enough for their expectations (it's a SC game, what did they expect, 4-5 million? SC isn't a triple- A franchise...) to release extra DLC for it. It irks me even more that Ubisoft can charge for pre-order content / disk-locked content in the Homeland and High Power packs. I figure we have until March 31st, 2014 to hear anything about new DLC, because that's when the fiscal year 2014 ends for Canada, otherwise it'll be clear that there's nothing more in store...
Communication, Ubisoft.... Silence does nothing...
/ rant.
I think that's their problem.Originally Posted by KevinPDZ0916 Go to original post
Like with Hitman Absolution.
Those Stealth Game developers nowadays, they just expect once they go all on action elements they would sale 2 - 3 millions more copies. They expect to be able to simultaneously keep the Stealth Game true to the franchise and can catch all the "wider audience" casual players out there and make a AAA game out of a Stealth game.
That'S not working, no matter how much money you pump in.
It stays a Stealth Game.
There are 2 options:
1. Make it a Hybrid and loose sales in the fanbase while winning some % of the wider audience, but in the end it doesn'T pay out.
2. Make a full blow action game out of it, win some new players, maybe even a lot, but loose almost all you fanbase. In the end you will have the same sales you had before and it will be a "passable" action game
Both options don't work.
And you want to know why?
1. The franchise is not well know. Even AAA franchises like CoD where well known before they had their "breakthrough"
2. The franchise is associated with Stealth. So most action players will approach it with caution
3. No matter how hard they try, they will never be able to deliver action as good as those gaming-franchises who have been specializing in this genre for over 10 years
4. They are ignoring what they can do the best, that being stealth, and loose fan support.
So what's the only way to slightly widen the audience in my eyes?
Well, the Panther style.
It's about the only style of stealth I know to date that is both, sneaky and stealthy as well as fast, actiony and badass.
Further develop the Ghost (for hardcore fans) and Panther (for newer fans and to attract wider audience) style and try to perfect the formula.
Bring back old elements while adding new ones, complementing both styles. Add more Panther gadgets, remove the helmet enemies (keep the heavies and snipers), reintroduce D-Ops ALONGSIDE the 4E Missions (D-Ops = free roam mode playable on every sp and coop map (also sp campaign maps) with Hunter, Intel Theft and Wave Mode and custom settings like in Conviction D-Ops (maybe some more settings)), add random A.I. and more sandbox maps to 4E Missions and deliver a Blacklist Mode-like SvM Mode ALONGSIDE with a Legacy-like SvM mode in your mp package.
Oh, and communicate your plans for once people.
I understand WHY they don't say anything, and from a consumer point of view - yes it is the worst feeling in the world...... When you give so much passion to a franchise like Splinter Cell, and the creators don't even bat an eyelash at you............. I'm speaking from a brass perspective, and not an individual developer one.......... Because I know that if members at Ubisoft Toronto were allowed to discuss with us what it is THEY are doing, they would love to share ideas, and get our input on them.
I feel like the only person in any position to change this Yves Guillemont persepctive, at a studio level, is Jade Raymond.
At the same time, you definitely don't want to tell the community you're doing something with the game, then realize you can't, or aren't able to..... That also ticks people off.

I didn't buy any DLC.Originally Posted by SCCUser1978 Go to original post
Why?
Because I got half of the Homeland DLC already with my preorder and I'm not paying for something I already own again, and I sure as hell don'T pay for a single map.
And because the other DLC was just a weapons pack.
So that is not REAL DLC.
I see, I guess you're right.Originally Posted by Dome500 Go to original post
I bought the Deluxe pack, why, I'm not sure.
If they released just one single player map, I'd be some what happy.
Me not.Originally Posted by SCCUser1978 Go to original post
Because I would never buy just a single new map. That's a waste of money
