Is Cliffs of Dover playable with Windows 7 ?

My PC has Windows 7 Home Edition 64bit OS which means that I can not play Star Force protected games. Some examples of the SF protected games I have are IL-2 Sturmovik and IL-2 Forgotten Battles. I have not been able to play those games since my old PC (first Win 2000 Pro and later Win XP installed) broke down and I went and bought a new PC and was fool and ignorant enough to buy it with Win 7 Home edition 64bit (a facepalm here...).

    • Does Cliffs of Dover have Star Force protection ? If it does not, is it playable with Win 7 OS?

    • Is Cliffs of Dover an independent game or an add-on? (If it's an add-on it is of no use for me, because I can not play earlier IL-2 series games, for reasons explained above... (more facepalms here...))

Independent game which does run on Win7. it uses a whole new game engine.

It uses Steam for copy protection and content delivery (even if you buy the disk at at brick and mortar store), see my response in you BiA:EIB topic for an explanation of Steam. Usually CoD is cheaper at Amazon, but you'll still need to install the Steam application and create a Steam account to play.

Also see http://il2sturmovik.com/ for information about an upcoming sequel (standalone) which should show better performance than CoD has enjoyed as it uses the more polished game engine developed by 777 studios for the Rise of Flight WW1 flight combat simulator.

A shop at your local high st / mall / shopping strip as opposed to online store.

I installed CoD a couple of days ago, I'm running it on my Win 7 Home Edition 64bit OS and everything is working fine.

After installing CloD from DVD, I let Steam to autopatch the game - it took almost one hour to download the patch - so I should have now the latest /newest version of CloD. I've read about the problems of the unpatched version (which I never tried to play), this patched version seems to be working OK.

If you haven't already, PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and download and install the Team Fusion mods for COD. Team Fusion has significantly improved the performance of my COD. You are fortunate that you installed on Win7 64 bit. I tried to run with XP then Win7 32. Performance on both was terrible. I'm now getting 25 fps avg on my rig (check specs in my signature). http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...ead.php?t=3777

Welcome to COD and enjoy. (It was more of a CloD when it was initially released)
