I've browsed through several pages of the forums here but haven't found a solution....when I'm in single player mode, the game play is really choppy, and it's worse when I access the in-game menu. I have all of the graphics settings on low, and am playing in full screen mode @ 800x600 res. (best results I could get). System specs are as follows:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Intel VIIV dual-core processor (2.8Ghz/core)
4 GB DDR2 RAM
AMD Radeon HD 5450 PCIx video card (1 GB dedicated RAM) have latest driver
Currently playing on a flat panel tv, could switch res to 1920x1080 but problem gets worse. Maybe my framerate is the issue? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
The only thing I can think of that might help you , is to try and overclock your cpu. that might speed it up a little but as most say your system is woefully inadequate for THIS GAME it might not satisfy.
You can build a low line gaming rig for under $400. Look at youtube builds that show medium quality with 1980X1080 settings at 30+ Frames per minute (which is very playable) for that.
An AMD apu A8 richland APU for $110 on amazon [AMD A8-6600K Richland 4.3GHz Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop Processor AMD], an msi mobo: MSI Socket FM2/AMD A75/DDR3/SATA3&USB3.... Motherboard FM2-A75MA-E35 $59 and a sata 80GB fast hardrive for$25 [http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Y34F0Y/...3CFY4RH7CH9WW]
get some fast 4GB of mem and a couple of sata to molex adaptors for your older power supply and away ya go. you could crossfire that apu with a radeon 6670 [$60] and have a fast medium settings and high res 1600x900 capable computer for upwards of $200. It wouldn't be a top gaming rig but you'd be surprised at the ability and speed. I was using a 6670 with a phenom 2 six core and playing every game with ease on med and 1360X768 res settings. Of course for more money you can do much better, My wife's duo core A6 will play tomb raider at acceptable frame rates at 1040X800 on normal or low settings WITHOUT a graphics card so.... You probably could use your 4Gb mem and be fine.
Thank you andy for the helpful reply. To butcherbird, you may not be aware but it's possible to say something to someone w/out being rude. DDR3 may be the new thing, but DDR2 isn't that old. I'm really sorry that I can't be cool like you and have a nicer machine, If I had an ATM in my living room I might run something better. I will try over clocking for now, and will eventually wind up w/a better machine. People need to quit *****ing about stuff that isn't their problem....
the ram speed wouldn't have as much of an effect on Frame rates as the graphic processors ram speed does. So, you want a GPU that has DDR5 ram, prolly 1gb.
Your card runs at 400mhz to 650 mhz and has 80 stream processors so it is prolly the weakest link in your ability to play at good frame rates. The ram you have is used by the CPU and does not effect the play as greatly as the GPU graphics card. you might try overclocking your graphics card also, but the best bet would be to get an HD 7770 for $95 and get a $15 rebate and a free game in the deal.
That card is easily able to play the current games at very acceptable frame rates. The fast ram you want on the card. Of course everything counts. Check to see if the 7770 would go onto your mobo.

What are your windows experience numbers? I was getting around 7.0 on the graphics with a 6670 on a duo core APU (3.6Ghz) and 7.1 with my 6 core phenom2 at 2.7ghz
