while on mission i have no damage in deep water and if i use the time compression the sub just sinks...i dont see any ships. i dont see any planes. the time compression goes from 1500 to 64 and then i hear pressure hull damaged, battery damaged....ect. ive tried everything i can think of but this must be a glitch or does anyone know what i can do?
That normally happens when your sub hits bottom. I find 1024 a good traveling speed and it normally give you a fair notice when in shallow waters!Originally Posted by panhead54 Go to original post
I've seen this issue in many places on the internet, and have experienced it myself on all levels of realism. It's not a bug. It has to do with how the submarine is ballasted in real life. In previous Silent Hunter games, SH3, SH4, etc. you could change depth and speed before reaching the originally specified depth: originally choose 50m at 5 knots, get to 30 and choose 100m and maybe change speed to10 knots etc. Do that in this version and you'll probably go into an uncontrolled dive and have to blow all ballast. So, now you have to be more careful, i.e. pick 90 meters and boat goes down to 100 + meters and back up to 95 meters etc. and levels out. THEN you can change speed etc. Don't choose a depth, and then change it before the boat levels out, even if the % remaining icon on the right side of the screen is gone. Also, the faster the boat is diving the deeper it will go before rising again to the specified depth. IMHO there is more realism in SH5 then the previous versions. I admit that there should be no uncontrolled dives if nothing is damaged, but that's the way that it is. Also, as my crew gets more experience I see uncontrolled dives less and less. Also, if you go into a uncontrolled dive at min speed try increasing speed. This may cause the boat to level off. Anyway, once I realized how to dive in this version of SH my problems went away. The uncontrolled dive, in my experience, is not related to time compression being on or off. Hope that this helps.
