Perhaps a pause or even forward/reverse would make the game better. I think some issues are already resolved. I like the new riff repeater. If you press B while playing a song, it will pause at the spot you chose but, if you resume riff repeater or the song it will rewind the section. Which is fine because playing from the mistake or sketchy part is kinda awkward and unnatural.Originally Posted by pgromlich Go to original post
Mayhaps you shoulda waited for Bandfuse. Its scrolling tabs somewhat like GuitarPro.
I think of it as hurdling versus broad jumping. Broad jumping is stationary and has no anticipation. Just try to bound over the obstacle in front of you. But you're not prepared for the one after it.Originally Posted by Deltor360 Go to original post
In hurdling you must account for speed, point of attack, height, timing and rhythm.
I think they added it by not restarting a section in riff repeater if you missed too many notes. Now you can play section/s of the arrangement of your choosing and not have to play one single note but sit back listen and watch. Over and over again at whatever speed and difficulty you want. Forward/Reverse might be useful though.Originally Posted by pulpsmack Go to original post
Yeah, it's the rewind that kills you. When I'm really trying to get down a passage that I find complex and tricky, sketchy and awkward is fine. At that stage, I'm not too concerned about actually playing the passage, I'm just trying to get a handle on it. Sometimes I like to continue right from the mistake. As I become more familiar with the passage, I might want to start from the very beginning and give it a go. When I'm struggling, a rewind more than one or two beats might not work for me. By the time I get back to the problem spot, it's not as fresh in my mind. I need the hurdling and the broad jumping. It's not one or the other.
I found a workaround to pause notes (at least on XBox). When your notes are near, press the Start button which pops up a menu. Don't choose anything from the menu, but study the notes. When done, press the Back button (X on XBox). to return to Riff Repeater.Originally Posted by Lanouba12 Go to original post
I agree that 2014 still needs more interface improvements and real documentation (which Technique Guide covers what empty colored outlined notes mean in a chord panel, for instance?). Maybe they will consider patching this version more often. rather than just putting them in the next 2 year release like they did with that $80 ripoff waste of money that was the first version.
pgromlich, i think you're making a big deal out of nothing. You're saying the whole game is a total failure because of one lame feature that was complete crap in the first game. Having the game stop because you missed a note, and not really being able to tell what note you're supposed to be playing so it can continue. I think that's a really crap way of learning because you're going to forget what you've been playing.
It's better to have the notes slowed down, not having the game stop for you for Every. Single. Note. For. The. Whole. Section.
This game is worth your money. It improved a ton over the first game.
It's still the same unfortunately in 2014 as in the old rocksmith. The riff repeater just isn't really useful to me for practicing complicated stuff. For that it would need to be able to let me practice a very small choice of notes, like a bar, over and over again. Or even like maybe only three notes. It can't do that. Also the huge gaps before and after are extremely annoying, The interface to maneuver to a section is totally ludicrous.
Bottom line, I am not using riff repeater. If I want to learn a more complicated song I use tabs and GuitarPro/Tux. Rocksmith only works for me with very simple songs.
